dude was all over the place from ESPN to Showtime promoting himself and the company but I guess that brass ring can be little slippery if you aint one of the choosen. Oh well I guess its all relative. He got his 1st reign quicker than Kofi & Bobby. At this rate we should get another new black champ in 3-5 years

Look at Titus O'Neal that motherfcuker is ALL OVER the world promoting WWE with their chicken shyt campaigns. That doesn't mean shyt to them, grabbing Vince and that motherfcuker been in TV purgatory since!

I don't think this will be Keith Lee. This will probably be someone either from New Japan or Impact. For it to be the forbidden door it has to be someone that's currently working for another promotion. Jay White? Will Ospreay?

Scratch that it's probably Keith Lee or it could be two different people debuting. Interesting.

Jay Lethal/Ricky Starks: Good match. Both guys did some solid work here. This is probably Starks's best match in AEW to date. Loved the ending. Starks's counter to the Lethal Injection was perfectly executed. A thing of beauty.

Yeah good match but as a Lethal fan it irritating to see Lethal being wasted and just putting guys over. Well at least it's the home grown talent he's putting over.

Exactly. They essentially made all that money because they didn't have the costs of touring because of the pandemic.
Still impressive especially when most took a hit because of the pandemic….it shows they at least know why they are doing despite people preaching otherwise.

Most of the criticism about WWE has come from a creative standpoint. Their product is stale. Financially they'll continue to make money because even though the product is trash people are conditioned to watch it anyway. That conditioning is hard to break.

I genuinely don't know how to feel about the current state of the WWE.
I completely understand people not liking the writing around Brock and the title scene. However, I've been calling/begging them to unify the damn belts for the longest time and that seem to be the direction that they're going.
And while I too was growing tired of 'The Beast' Lesnar who stands there and let Heyman do all the talking .... Comedy Brock is pure gold.

I do wish that this could have come at the expense of someone other than the black champions. The writing around the Chamber is making Bobby look like a damn joke. Like he's legit just holding the title right quick until they set up Brock/Roman part 10. At this point I wouldn't be shocked if Xavier won the belt for a day, just so Brock can beat him and say that he beat all 3 members of the New Day for the title.

Big E needs to change his gimmick. That New Day shit is beyond stale. Knew he wouldn't last long as WWE Champion.
Yep, Big E has to share some blame in this.
Hard for people to take you serious as a champion when they've seen you twerking, tossing pancakes and acting like a bufoon at times.
At this point, the damage might already be done and it's too late to change his gimmick.

I personally think he works better as a Babyface. He needs to break away from Taz's group.
When he was a babyface in the NWA it seemed fake to me. The problem with Taz's group is that they don't feel like a group. Usually they're separate from each other instead of moving as an unit. Hell Taz isn't even with them most of the time.

Stale as fuck. The contracts that they have with Fox and NBC is responsible for most of their money so they're not nearly as worried about show money or seemingly, TV ratings. There is some conditioning still their but they are turning off and good amount of people who have been fans for years. It's just that AEW isn't do much to attract those people either.

I tried to get into AEW a few times but it never really grabbed me.
My biggest gripe is all of the smark winking. Like publically talking about 'hidden doors' and shit like that.
It makes the promotion seem like it geared directly to wrestling smarks who want to be in on the joke.

I watch a few matches here and there though. The ladder match last week was really good.

That's just the age of the internet.

If you follow anything wrestling-related on the internet, you're gonna come across shit that breaks the canon of the shit that's on TV. Whether it's real relationships, or spoilers, or contract situations, all that shit is out there and can't be avoided.

It's just that AEW assumes that you either already know about that shit, or you're smart enough to use Google and YouTube to find out about the shit you don't know.

As opposed to WWE who treats their fans like they're stupid by gaslighting them because they want you to be on an island for the most part, like you're a castaway who only has WWE programming as their source of entertainment. So they act like all these internet stories, current events, other promotions and entertainment avenues don't exist until they enter the WWE universe, or it's convenient for them to mention that shit and then that's when they do the elbow-nudge/winking shit.

And those differences are reflected in the demos. AEW's biggest demo is the 18-49 demo, that's internet-savy millennials. WWE's biggest demos are old people and kids, people who aren't really on the internet like that and are more likely to go with these goofy storylines and trotting out all these old farts because they don't know how good the new wrestlers are.

Looking forward to the feud/match possibilities.

I really want to see a stable of Jay Lethal Ricky Stark Powerhouse Hobbs and Keith Lee. Keep Taz on Commentator on he can focus on being Hooks manager/Mouthpiece. Let Jay Lethal lead the stable and Add Jade Cargill. Fuck that whiney white dude. Hobbs/Keith Lee go after the Tag Titles.
The Black Elite vs The Super Elite Era. I can see Starks chasing the TV title after dropping the FTW belt to Hook or Dante Martin and Taz uses Hook to bring it back home. Lethal we being in the title picture of course they can't give them all of the gold but the stable should hold something. Their relationship with Hook from a far will be similar to the Dark order and Hangman

It is. It's a wrestling show aimed at wrestling geeks. Until they get that one person who can transition and bring in the casual fan, they'll always be #2 promotion IMO. BUT I don't think being #2 promotion is a bad thing if you're still drawing money.

Paige looking good.

That don't even look like Paige. Did she get some work done or something?

Give me punk rocker chick Paige over that any day.
