I think it should've been more of a spectacle. Like the powers of death strip him of his powers and allow him to live his life as a human. I'd have had lightning striking lights flickering and smoke n darkness n when the lights came back up, he'd have been dressed regularly. That's how I send him out!!

Nah they had old rivals, his friends from (Bone Street Krew) and Vince gave a speech. Taker came out gave a speech and there was a Paul Bearer hologram. You can find it on YouTube.

That's really all it was. His long drawn out entrance/walk followed by a quick one minute promo where he says 30 years he's been making wrestlers rest in peace. Its time for the Undertaker to rest in peace.

He should have stayed retired after that Mania loss against Roman where he left his hat and coat in the ring.

What was the promo about? Don't remember seeing it.

Haven't watched non PPV wrestling in a minute, has Private Party been on.

Last time I watched AEW, they had that Black gay dude tag teaming with Joey Janella. Shit was horrible.

was listening to a podcast with 2 black hosts where they made the same point
AEW was all about diveristy but none of their non white wrestlers have characters or storylines
from their woman's champ to their transgender wrestler to LAX to Private Party to Sky
what happened to Big Swole and why did she reappear to get at Jade (its interesting that are all in the same angle especially after Brandy's cringe promo)

with AEW their diversity is basically Lip Service/tokenism
I think a white person has held every men's title to date except for SCU's 1st run with the tag championship

this is the promo I believe and once again i think it came off as lip-service/tokenism
they spot is from early spring and you would think that it would be used to begin is raise up the ranks but they never followed up with it

it doesnt help that arguably their biggest angle to date involving black ppl ended with Brandy doing her black girl from 90s impression...HEFFER

and then she disappeared from tv (even though she won the feud, it didnt elevate her)
but she pops outta no where to help Brandy in the angle that features all the black women on the roster

I wouldn't say it is lip service, just a lot of the cats you mentioned are green. I would like to see Scorpio have at the very least have a credible feud. Him and Darby Allin could have a really good program for the TV title. It isn't like SCU is doing anything right now

thats the thing they came talking a big a game promising to differate themselves from the WWE when it came to diversity
but when its all said and done they fell into the same status quo

white men at the top
black wrestlers confined to tag team prominence at best
and non white wresters without stories/characters...tell me a non black wrestler that has a stand-alone character or story...Kingston might be it

Scorpio Sky is the prime example. There is no reason why they couldnt build him the way they built Darby & Cassidy
and once again that Brandy promo was something outta attitude era WWE

actions speak louder than words and right now their actions dont align to what they said they were going to do. to me its all lip service

I dont think we've ever seen Brandy talk like that. And Brandy has claimed that she has been the victim of reverse racism cause black ppl dont think she black enough...guess she decided to turn up. Unforunately imo it doesnt help AEW promise to promote diversity when the black wife of the president goes full black caricature when dealing with another black female wrestler. No one in the WWE talks like that but AEW supposed to be woke & better.

its been a year and imo Kingston the only person of color that has really been given a story/character. And he only been with the company a few months and is a god on the mic.

Yeah that shit was like some old blaxploitation character that shit was wild. And I got a feeling someone coached her to do that.

AEW gotta do better its crazy I keep saying I want to tune in and watch but they don't really have anything that will draw me in and want to watch. Sure as hell aint' no Chris Jericho.

Kingston is a shyt wrestler, but his mic work sells him.

Reverse racism isn't a real thing especially black folks clowning you cause you aren't black enough. I got family and friends that give me shyt for the way I talk. Hell within the last 20 years shyt that was nerd culture is now pop culture. I really think she comes up with her own storylines and Cody just goes along with it. Cause this is like her 3rd try at a storylline and it is just bad. I still think the nightmare collective is the worst thus far, but if this keeps up, it's taking that number 1 spot.

Keep in mind WWE JUST started putting tag belts on the black athletes that they force into teams. With the exception of Lashley who had to go through a BLACKED angle first.

Darby and Cassidy came in with a fanbase established as single competitors. Sky came in as a three man tag team with SCU. Now I would like to think that due to the pandemic any run that Sky was going to have got derailed.

I don't know man, maybe I am holding out hope cause WWE has fcuked people that look like us over for years.

i think there heart in the right place and they trying but unforunately they falling into same pitfalls other wrestling companies have in the past.
they dont have a writers room and the wrestlers come up with their own stuff. The highest ranking official in the company of color other than Kahn is Brandy. Young Bucks, Cody, Kenny & Jericho are all white men and white men been running the business since it started.

WWE does have its own issues but i give credit of late. Black male wrestlers still have a ceiling when it comes to the main event singles push.
But look at their champs now. Only one is a white male and he is European all their other champs are Samoan, Black and Asian. It might be a function of the pandamic, Becky/Charoltte being out and the WWE being forced to do things differently
