Bobby Lashley Could Return to WWE at Any Moment

The mass exodus of Impact Wrestling stars to WWE is about to get another data point.

Bobby Lashley is destined for WWE, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. Per the report, Lashley could return at any point. Even more, WWE is apparently planning on pairing him with Brock Lesnar after WrestleMania.

Lesnar's contract with WWE expires shortly after WrestleMania this year, but he is expected to stay with WWE and sign a new agreement. However, there's growing sentiment that Lesnar could return to UFC for a big money fight this summer. So, while a post WrestleMania feud with Lashley is possible, it is by no means likely.

Lashley has been rumored for a return to the company where he first became a star ever since he wrapped up his dates with Impact Wrestling on January 14. Since that time, he has been negotiating with both New Japan Pro Wrestling and WWE about working for each promotion.

Lashley left WWE in 2008 following a heavy push, as he was expected to be a top player with the company for many years. However, he was granted his release early upon request due to creative issues with how his then-girlfriend (Kristal Marshall) was being booked on SmackDown, as well as backstage heat with Michael Hayes over some alleged racially charged comments from Hayes.

Lashley was required to keep what happened with WWE under wraps as a condition of being granted his early release, but Marshall has spoken about what lead to Lashley requesting his release.

However, it looks like bad blood with WWE is in the past. Lashley spoke with Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. in 2015 and said, "I'm still good friends with some people there. I've talked with Vince [McMahon] a couple times. Shane [McMahon] and I are pretty good friends, I talk with him from time to time. Dolph Ziggler, I talk to him from time to time. We just haven't really went that route (going back to WWE)."

I agree with Omega, Big E and Kofi should be competing for main titles. They don't even got to break up the stable to do it.

But Vince is racist piece of shit.

One black WWE champion in over 30 years, and he only put the title on him because he had MOVIE STAR appeal.

Every non-caucasian wrestler has to have a gimmick drenched in racial stereotypes.

That's he fucking go to. When he doesn't trust a wrestler to go out there and be who he is or who he wants to be, he goes straight to the racial shit, which limits character development.

He could have a black man be the face of the company if he let him do something other than dance and use outdated ebonics. All the spanish people who aren't already luchadores, they got to ride something to ring - a lowrider, a tricked out bike, a car, a FUCKING LAWN MOWER. All the Asians gotta be goofy and misunderstood. Anybody with a drop of Middle Eastern descent, they gotta hate America. And anybody European gotta be draped in their nation's colors and have some generic music to match.

Vince forever been getting a pass for this shit. Just like the NFL, I refuse to give Vince another dime.

You know what. I have been trying to not be an asshole about Jinder because he falls into that category too. Jinder did not have to be thrown the belt just to sell to India. He could have been a monster heel on Smackdown and worked his way up to get there. The journey alone could have worked with the Indian audience. If you want to make him an Indian royalty heel fine, but don't have him hate America one day then have an India celebration the next and not expect fans to boo.

Reason why Rey Mysterio won't sign a new WWE deal

Rey Mysterio was one of the surprise entrants in the Men's Royal Rumble match on Sunday night, and he did not fail to deliver in his first WWE appearance since 2015, and his first WWE match since he faced Bad News Barrett on the Monday Night Raw following WrestleMania 30 in 2014.

The Master of the 619 made his WWE return and did not disappoint fans inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, as not only did he eliminate Adam Cole from the match, but he also delivered 619s to several superstars including Roman Reigns and John Cena.

Mysterio was also part of a cool moment between the superstars of the past and future, as he alongside Cena and Randy Orton stared down Reigns, Finn Balor, and Shinsuke Nakamura in the middle of the ring before The Demon King eliminated him from the match, ending his Rumble time in just under nine-and-a-half minutes.

Rey's Royal Rumble appearance left many fans to question if the Mexican superstar had returned to the WWE or if this was just a one-off appearance. The monster pop which he received upon his return certainly caught WWE officials' attention, so there's a real chance he could be coming back.

However, PWInsider has reported that his appearance was organized just over the last week and it's just a one-time thing right now. It doesn’t mean he won’t be making more appearance anytime soon, but don't expect anything more from him for now.

In a later report, PWInsider stated that the same problems which have been around for the past year still linger, and this is stopping Mysterio from signing a new WWE deal, as the company wants him back full-time, while the 43-year-old would rather work a part-time schedule.

Triple H Gets Control Of WWE 205 Live

The Chairman steps aside.

Those who've tuned into WWE 205 Live over the past few weeks will have noticed a clear shift away from the 'Raw Lite' format that had defined the show since its inception, and towards a style more in line with 2016's Cruiserweight Classic, with in-ring action given a stronger focus.

According to PWInsider, these changes are down to a significant backstage power shift. Vince McMahon has reportedly stepped away from producing the show, handing over the reins to Triple H, who has installed Drake Maverick as General Manager, and started a 16-man tournament to crown a new Cruiserweight Champion at WrestleMania 34.

As per PWI, WWE had spent the past few months discussing 205's failure, with Enzo Amore brought in to transition towards a more character-driven show. This failed, and WWE have now shifted to the Cruiserweight Classic's blueprint, with the show eschewing overlong talking segments and Raw/SmackDown-style dramatics.

205's new form is reportedly what WWE had originally planned for the show before McMahon became personally involved. He stepped aside in mid-January, and Triple H will now attempt to salvage the brand by presenting strong, athletic characters in exciting matches.
