And I don't know about having Smackdown live. I haven't watched Smackdown in years and I'm not sure having it live will make any difference.
It will always be seen as the "B" show unless they have real stars that are only on Smackdown and not going back and forth between both shows.

They have a deeper roster now, especially with all the NXT call ups and people returning from injury/hiatus.

How did it fail before? I thought it was cool that both shows had their own storylines and titles .

Hope they designate the US title and IC title as the top championship per show separately, and have them exclusive to those shows, but have the World Heavyweight champion jump between both shows.
 
The tag champs needs to be able to jump shows also. With a brand extension it opens the door for more than one strong stable. Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt have been planting the seeds for a Club vs Wyatt Family feud over Twitter.

Yeah, but are all these NXT guys ready for primetime yet? I sure hope so.
The brand extension failed in that they didn't keep it going for a reason. I think they brought back again at least one other time too.
It always starts out well, but then eventually half the damn roster continuously switches between both shows so the concept of separate brands goes down the toilet.
 
Raw and Smackdown are crowded as is since they focus on the same folks. Now we have a chance to see better feuds and matches. Raw needs to be 2 hours.

The previous Brand Split lasted 9 or 10 years. How is that a failure? It ran it's course and the WWEs roster was thin by the end of it in 2011.

The WWEs roster today is packed with talent that can support separate storylines.

On top of moving Smackdown and making it a Live Show, compared to a taped show back then, makes this case different than the previous Brand Split.

Some of these NXT guys are pros and veterans. They're only in NXT to learn the WWE style and tour help build the brand and make it profitable as it tours. The roster was weak years after the brand extension was in progress. WWE didn't sign outside indy or Japan talent in till HHH got involved in hiring talent. The brand extension looks to be very promising under the "New Era".
 
New reports are that WWE are planning to CREATE a specific title for Smackdown. Being that the world title was devalued regularly it's a good idea. I would prefer one title but I understand the reasoning as for touring and having a main champion on the brand. If I had to guess I'm betting that the Smackdown specific world title will be the same design as the WWE and women's title. So big WWE logo with a blue strap probably. I would like a retro eagle design but I doubt they will make something different.

Hopefully they let the women division tour with both brands. If they make the women division brand specific then they may possibly bring back the cruiserweight division since they are having a tournament now.

On the reason he has been looking for more non-WWE work as of late:

“As a 39-year-old adult, I certainly wouldlove to be a bad guy or to push the limits of the broadcast, but that is not my job. My job is to work for a company that produces PG television and do the best I can. In redefining my brand, I’m looking for opportunities outside of the WWE because I realize I have to play within certain goalposts. When I came in [to the WWE] in 2002, it was more like the Jerry Springer show and now it’s really a good family program. So I’ve had to change the tools in my toolbox and adapt to my surroundings yet stay authentic to myself. My experiences in the wrestling ring have set me up for what I’m trying to do outside.”

On how involved with WWE is he these days:

“The first question I ask myself is, do I want to do it? I think the first question a lot of folks ask themselves is, is this good business? Does it pay me a lot of money? That is short-term success in life. I know [the WWE has] half a billion social followers. I know our business model to drive more people toward the network. I know our t-shirt sales. I know our consumer fan base. I know our attendance for live events. I know we’re not deep enough business-wise in China so I’m doing what I can to get us into China. I’m not just a dude who laces his shoes up andslides into the ring—I love the brand. And if I’m not active in the brand physically, I will be active in the brand mentally. And I do not align myself with properties that I don’t feel that passionate about. To me, that’s what being authentic is all about.”


I remember back when Cena was shitting all over The Rock because he left and went all Hollywood, and now he's doing the same thing

Translation: I'm getting old as hell and my time as the top dog in the company is coming to an end. In fact the company has spent the last year grooming the next 'guy', going so far as to direct call him the top dog multiple times onscreen. So I need to branch out and try to get some of that Rock/Fast and Furious type money.... oh and pay no attention to the long history of me talking shit about the Rock for leaving wrestling to go pursue that Hollywood money.

It would happen occasionally in the past but for sure, HBK and Taker at WM25 took it to another level. I know, because I was there.
There were so many finishers that got kicked out of, it was all the new at the time.
Now, it happens in damn near every match.

Ok yeah I remember those two kicking out of at least two each. Cena started doing it for his US title defenses. Austin called him out on it saying how pointless it makes finishers now. He went on to say that he should have been using the springboard stunner as a alternate finisher to heighten the match.
