Yeah, that ending was a wet fart. They didn't have to blow the ring up per se, but maybe have some pyro by the ring to make it more dramatic.

Ain't shit dramatic about sparklers. Goldberg stands in them.

I thought the same....the ring explosion was soft as fck....especially with the cover and then lay there...at least make the ring break down....

I watched AEWs PPV and must say, overall it was a good show. I did have some issues with their matches and the booking but I'd give it a solid B-

  1. Jericho/MJF vs Young Bucks = missed
  2. Tag Team Battle Royal = decent action
  3. Women's Title match = went on too long. Who the fuck is this fat dyke Japanese wrestler, and why should I care about her? AEW always tries to push these unknown Japanese stars to the casual audience like we should care about who they are when in reality they are given too much match time.
  4. Miro/Sapien vs Cassidy/Taylor = I hate that Miro's talents are being wasted in these matches that basically are throwaways. Can they start separating him from this Sapien and his wife. Is AEW trying to do a cuckold type storyline in the future?
  5. Matt Hardy vs Hangman = decent match with good action. Although Hangman's gimmick borrows heavily from many that came before him, he's a character that is growing on me.
  6. Brass Ring Ladder Match = AEWs continued obsession with WWE/Vince McMahon inspires a brass ring ladder match that felt too overbooked like many multiman ladder matches that came before it. I'm not a big fan of Money in the Bank ladder matches, and wasn't a big fan of this one, especially when there were so many spots where dudes literally could have climbed the ladder easily to grab the brass ring, but because of shitty timing, had to wait for one of their opponents to do a spot to knock them off the ladder. This happens in every ladder match but here, it was VERY apparent. Also went on too long.
  7. Christian Cage signs with AEW = cool to see him sign but the way they hyped it, it was a little bit of a letdown. Was expecting a bigger star, someone who could sell out arenas....
  8. Street fight = I get why they went with the cinematic style match but this felt over produced. It would have been better without the commentary team. It was a cool action set piece but part of me felt like it just didn't come as well as it could have. I just can't buy into a 150lb Allin and a sixty year old Sting winning a street fight....
  9. Barbed Wire exploding match = why was this booked immediately AFTER the street fight? They should have booked the Women's match before this instead of having these two gimmick matches back to back....and what a dumbass gimmick match this was. The match itself wasn't that bad but it was honestly ruined by that ending countdown to "Explosion"....WTF was that bullshit? Moxley looked like he wishes he could be Ambrose again after this.
Decent PPV that was killed by it's ending. I wish AEW would tighten their booking and do away with the ridiculous gimmick matches but it is what it is...they are trying to be a serious sports based wrestling promotion....

I don't expect Miro to be paired with Kip much longer. If they're still together come June I'll be surprised.

From what I read, Tony Kahn wimped out on the barbed-wire explosion match and had everything toned down. I think it was supposed to be like the ones they do in Japan:

From what Moxley and Khan said in their post interviews, it seems like they're going to say it was Kenny's fault, maybe that it was done on purpose as a joke. Eddie can sell that he passed out due to the pressure and the thought of dying. Some shit like that.

What a lame ass excuse.

This is AEW's "Shockmaster" moment.....

Yeah, I knew that "exploding, barbed wire, death match" was gonna be on some outlaw mudshow indie bullshit.
Seems like they couldn't even pull it off right for the people who are into that shit.
Purposely didn't go out of my way to try and find it to watch.

He's Nigerian-American so it's not a stretch from who really is. I'm digging this new character.
It's much better than the old smiling-all-the-time, bland Apollo character from before.
Does WWE have any other African wrestlers other than Apollo and Kofi?

Would be cool to see Kofi (Ghana), Apollo (Nigeria) and another form an African Union stable of sorts.

Kofi's New Day schtick is beyond stale. I'd like to see him and Big E become more serious wrestlers....

AJ Styles' bodyguard is from Nigeria too.
Yeah, the New Day thing has run its course by now.
It's held Big E back from being taken seriously as a contender for the championship.
Seems like he's slowly shedding some of the goofiness and taking himself more seriously.
