I just think that without the crowds in the arena for all of wrestling is hiring the moral of the wrestlers themselves. Least night would have been great if there was a crowd there to cheer and boo.

Wrestlers always say that the crowds gives them energy when they are out there and I can see that motivation is low for some of them.
I can't watch wrestling now on a full TV screen with nothing else on.
I'll stream it on my tablet while watching something else or listening to music.
The silence is just weird, even with the "crowds" they have now.

I'm sure Vince would never consider it, but they should have taken this time to hit the reset button and go away for a while.
Come back with a new product with fresh ideas.
But who knows if their TV contract would have allowed them to not have a live product every week (or every other week now).

Meltzer said AEW would have lost their t.v. deal if they didn't have shows. WWE technically could just air Raw & Smackdown shows from the attitude era if USA allowed it.

I was speaking about WWE specifically.
I understand AEW isn't in a position to not air new content since they're a new promotion and don't have enough content to air classic matches.
I bet WWE could get similar ratings airing old content right now as opposed to the crap they're putting on TV now.

I keep asking myself why I still watch and I guess it's some weird inexplicable loyalty I still have.
I keep holding out hope that it will change on any given episode, deep down knowing that it won't.

I'm pretty sure Fox would've rejected that and took that money back if they showed old shows.

That's what ESPN is for.

Yeah, I'm sure WWE doesn't want to rock the boat with FOX considering they just signed their deal.
The ratings on Smackdown have been shit though.
I'm sure FOX is already regretting bringing on Smackdown and are probably looking for an out on their deal.

Damn, they are probably going to revamp their business model. All that money they are saving from weekly touring, plus they already mentioned they would start scaling back house shows before Rona, WWE might change for real.

If running shows from the PC or another location weekly brings in those profits, then they probably don’t need to tour weekly for Raw and Smackdown.

I can see them doing PPVs in different cities monthly once things open up again, but these Raw and Smackdown Performance Center shows would be hard to cancel out if these profits continue.

if we ever get back to normal they need crowds

it works NXT at Full Sail. Not sure if it would work for Raw/Smackdown

Oh yeah, they'll have crowds at the PC or Full Sail. I could see them having a studio show with crowds.

It works for NXT. No reason why it wouldn't for Raw or Smackdown.

I'll take it further though....Have Raw, Smackdown and NXT air from different cities regularly.

Think of it, Raw could be filmed in the follow but cycled:
NYC/Boston/Philly/Baltimore/Chicago

Smackdown could be in filmed the following but cycled:
Atlanta/Charlotte/New Orleans/Los Angeles

NXT could continue in Orlando.

Basically have the WWE do territories again but own the territories instead.

Have the Brands do studio shows regularly from designated locations. Like do them for a month at a time and then move to another location.

It would definitely be something old but new and crowds in those cities would love it.

No house shows (which WWE was already moving towards), cutting talent and not having to rent out arenas = more profit.
They'll have to rent arenas again once the crowds come back, but I could see them cutting house shows permanently.
Most talent will tell you house shows are what they look forward too. They have freedom to actually wrestle and house shows aren't heavely micro managed. Talent that aren't on house shows won't be getting used. I think its more likely they cut back the number of house shows.

I always felt they should have been doing that. That NXT model to be in one small space and take their PPV on the road to a bigger arena. It makes them feel special and like a big time event.
