WWE legend Chyna -- real name Joanie Laurer -- has died ... and officials are investigating as a possible overdose, TMZ Sports has learned.
TMZ Sports has learned she was in a home in Redondo Beach, CA ... south of L.A. -- and police got the call around 7:30 PM. Officers are on scene right now. We're told they are investigating as a possible overdose ... due mainly to her history with drugs.
Chyna was 45-years-old.
A statement was posted to Chyna's official Twitter account confirming the death ... saying, "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero."
"She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."
Laurer was discovered Wednesday evening according to ProWrestlingSheet.com.
Chyna was a game changer during her stint with the WWE -- famously teaming up with Triple H to become one of the original members of D-Generation X. She was also the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble.
Chyna went on to pose for Playboy before transitioning to reality TV. She appeared on "The Surreal Life" in 2005.
Later, Chyna got into porn ... releasing 6 films from 2004 to 2013.
She later went to Japan to teach English.
Chyna struggled with addiction for years -- and appeared on "Celebrity Rehab" back in 2008.
She posted a video to her YouTube page earlier this week -- she looked like she was struggling.
They grew up yearning from vets and picking up their bad habits and using hard drugs. The current generation I doubt you're see them dropping off in their 50's'
It saddens me that this was the only way that she probably ever would have gotten into the Hall of Fame. I don't think that they trusted her enough to induct her while she was alive and hand her a live microphone. Stephanie probably wakes up at night in cold sweat at the thought alone.
At least now they can induct her with a solid WWE documentary piece and focus on the wrestling parts of her life.

Steph wasn't gonna let her in the hall of fame while she was alive the same way Vince wasn't gonna let Macho Man in until he was dead. The McMahon's hold grudges that only end at death.

AJ may not even be apart of the WWE branded stable. He's over enough that they don't need to turn him heel. Hell the Balor Club will get cheered in the beginning. They gonna have to lay waste to some fan favorites to get some heat.
Still say The club gonna cost AJ his championship match....
It would be cool to see WWE basically continue the storyline of AJ getting booted from the Bullet Club by having them cost him the title. But that would require Vince to acknowledge that other wrestling promotions exist and WWE doesn't really do well with that. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that mentioning TNA is a fire-able offense.
AJ & Balor will end up feuding for the next few months. There's little to no chance that AJ joins the stable.
at the very least what theyll probably do is have the Usos beat down the club using heel-ish tactics(i.e using chairs and such) then Roman joins in on the beating when AJ jumps in,thus RR finally acknowledging that he a heel
Jose seems like he has potential. He needs to execute his moves more crisply, get a different gimmick, a good finisher, and maybe consider a more technical/submission based style.
