I can't imagine all the freaky shit wrestlers do with their belts. The most infamous case is Saraya/Paige. Sammy and Tay also got freaky with the TNT belt.

The Paige thing is the best we know of, but I'd be willing to bet that those early NWO in the WCW days things were worst. When Hogan, Nash, & Hall were basically running the company and do whatever they wanted.

There has to be at least 100 pictures of the big gold belt and some naked strippers are prominently featured. Thank God there was no social media back then.

I like Iyo Sky/Io Shirai but real talk, when the last time she defended her title?

Hell, when was the last time she cut a promo on the mic, in Engrish or Japanese?
That title just comes off as secondary. They really need to give that belt to Bayley. Iyo has done nothing with it.

Her booking has been weak since she got to the main roster. Booking her as a goofy heel who has to get help from her friends to win isn't the way to go for someone with her talents. You have to book her like a final boss. With that said she'll have a good match with Bayley at WrestleMania but her title reign has been disappointing. I hope they don't do this nonsense when Giulia get there.

I just don't see her ever being booked like a final boss. She's just too small. WWE needs to introduce a women's Midcard title. It would be like having Chad Gable (super talented) defeat Roman or Brock Lesnar.....

Having Iyo stand up next to Rhea, Charlotte, Bianca, Nia Jax and Jade would look laughable. Hell, even Bayley "towers" over her.

Iyo is talented as hell, but having her in the ring with other women who look the part, just doesn't really make it believable in the unbelievable world of pro wrestling. It's why I always rolled my eyes whenever they have Riho go over on larger sized talent. Same thing with the likes of Bliss and Liv Morgan.

Smackdown 2 weeks ago had a stand offish scene with Jade standing near damage ctrl. And she's taller

Looks like Shaq standing next to Muggsy Bogues.....

You're right THEN the bell rings and Iyo begins wrestling circles around green Jade but this is the WWE universe so nobody will care as long as you have "THE LOOK". Right now Jade is Ulitimate Warrior 2.0.

Ultimate Warrior was garbage in the ring, but I'd be lying if I and others did not find his matches entertaining as a kid.

Plus, you'd be hard pressed in naming another wrestler (industry wide) who made as much money as Warrior (not named Hogan) in that short three year period during his first WWF run.

People loved Warrior and bought into his look.

Four things I need to see from AEW/Mercedes Mone tomorrow night ...

1. Start the show with her coming out like they did with Punk's debut. Don't wait.

2. Come out with new theme music. Hopefully she got rid of that generic Kris Kross "Jump" knockoff she used in New Japan. She needs real impactful theme music.

3. Cut a solid promo but don't over do it. We don't need a ten-minute promo. Quickly hit your bullet points then get out.

4. Immediately start her first feud. It's looking like that could be Serena Deeb.

I don't know if it was because I watched more NWA/WCW, and WCCW than WWF growing up but I never cared for Ultimate Warrior or Hogan as a kid. Me and my cousins were more into the Four Horsemen, Dusty Rhodes, Road Warriors, Midnight and Rock N Roll Express, Sting, Von Erichs, Freebirds, etc. More reality based characters then the cartoon like characters in the WWF. We had our favorites in WWF like Macho Man, Jake Roberts, Ricky Streamboat, Piper, etc, but we more leaned toward reality based.

Damage Control cut a promo on the last Smackdown backstage. As for defending her belt once Wrestlemania season hits most champs start chilling on title defenses. Rhea defended at Elimination Chamber but she hadn't been defending her belt regularly prior to that, Seth hadn't been defending his title since the injury against Jinder Mahal and we already know Roman's schedule. Roman showing up on Smackdown 2 weeks in a row is like overtime for him

Sounds like most kids that grew up in the Mid-Atlantic territories

Well, I grew up in Saint Louis so there you go. It was wrestlers like Bruiser Brody (In Saint Louis we called him King Kong Brody) , Ric Flair, Harley Race, Dick The Bruiser, Gorgeous George, Dory Funk, Lou Thesz, etc that would often come to town. Hell, we even had our own TV program that would air from the Chase Park Plaza hotel called "Wrestling At The Chase". It would come on Saturday nights and run on KPLR Channel 11. It ran from 1959-1983 and was the creation of promoter Sam Muchnick.

I grew up in the Northeast (Western New York) so the wrestling we watched was more WWF and AWA than anything else. We were exposed to some NWA/WCW on Superstation and WCCW on ESPN I believe, but WWF was on Saturday and Sunday mornings after cartoons, and on Monday Nights on Prime Time Wrestling on USA.

But when has SHE cut a promo? She always has some dumbfounded look on her face whenever she is challenged by someone. I get it, she doesn't speak the language....but damn, have her Nakamura style promos/videos. I can't think of one she cut that comes to mind.

I like that those promos are for now a Nakamura exclusive. It makes him feel special. It will water down the effect if they start doing that with all the Japanese and Spanish speaking stars.
