Agree 100%. It’s a good point about Samoans in wrestling too….he’d be a fool not to acknowledge his families legendary history in the business.
What about The Rock character was Samoan or black? Any ethnicity could have played that character so acknowledging his families history does nothing for the character. He could have done the same thing as Rocky Miavia and Rocky Miavia would still suck
what does that have to do with anything?

If I may ask

So it was said that some of The Rocks success was attributed to his families history and my point was that his lineage had nothing to do with the character itself. That character has been used over the years Jesse Ventura, Superstar Billy Graham, etc... Just repackaged for a particular generation. Sure behind the scenes lineage may have helped but what about The Rock's lineage ever got his character over?

Take the Roman Reigns character. This is the most he's been over since the Shield, but he is using a lot of his lineage for his character

That was my point it didn't, until he joined Nation of. Then after he became hot he moved slower and slower to phasing out anything that resembled black, and moved into being all Samoan. Someone earlier posted a bunch of clips of this

He really didn't have anything black while being apart of the Nation. Everyone had some kind of Red, Black and Green on their ring attire. If memory serves he only had black trunks.

I think we are making the same point, but it was me that posted clips of him acknowledging his Samoan lineage throughout Hollywood. Which I have no problem with, just don't tell me this is a black man when saying he was the first black WWE champion.

The CLOSEST he is getting to play "black" is the Black Adam character and that is actually Northern African and people in that region define themselves as Caucasian since Jesus comes from that region

Ahead of tonight's announcement the rumors out there seem to be leaning toward it being Tony Khan buying "Ring Of Honor". Supposedly he'll come out tonight on Dynamite and make the announcement himself.

Surprised WWE let AEW buy ROH. Was sure they would eventually have it due to the tape library...

I suppose this is a "big" announcement but it honestly is a little underwhelming to me.

I mean, the 2nd most popular American wrestling promotion buys the 5th most popular American wrestling promotion.

If AEW intends to use ROHs tape library, cool, other than that, I don't see this being all that big a deal.

I can't even say I've ever watched an entire ROH show.

I think when AEW gets their streaming deal off the ground it'll be cool to have the ROH library. They're going to need a good amount of content to put on the streaming service.

Also, Tony could use ROH as a developmental promotion. This way you keep the very best talent on Dynamite and send the people who are not ready to ROH.

He needs to, with all the talent under the AEW umbrella, there just isn't enough TV time for them to show off their signees.

If AEW pops off with an exclusive streaming network, that would be great for their wrestlers, especially if they have streaming exclusive shows. I don't even count the YouTube shows though I should. Lolz

AEW should do this smart, unlike WWE when they bought WCW.

Keep both brands separate and have them interact occasionally....

Or, as you said, have ROH be the NXT for AEW, and just be a developmental promotion...

There's not much incentive for WWE to purchase another tape library, they already got their money when they sold the network to Peacock.

I swear TK needs to switch to decaf or something, he looks coked up every time he's on TV. LOL

Not sure there's a lot of value in ROH anymore other than nostalgia. TK better have a streaming deal upcoming soon because right now he doesn't even have a platform to broadcast the ROH library. He should keep ROH as a separate brand and use it as a developmental brand.

That was actually a pretty entertaining Tag Team Casino Battle Royale. That would've been the perfect spot for them the debut the Briscoes as the final team to enter the Battle Royale.

The incentive was to own wrestling and all promotions lolz. Especially if it kept AEW from getting into play with their own service.

Watch WWE counter and buy Impact and NWA. Lolz

Agreed on the whole TK thing, I can't listen to dude.
