I lived in Sydney Australia for a year, I kept noticing that "sorry" had been spray painted with a template on the pavements (sidewalks) and walls randomly throughout the city. When I asked somebody about it I was told that it was "a peoples" apology to the Aborigines because no records were kept of who was taken or where they had been relocated. The Australian government up until that point (I was there Feb 2001-Feb 2002) had not apologised to their indigenous people for this. I started to investigate some more and found that the children were stood in front of a colour chart on the wall and if they were "lighter" than the colour they were deemed to be white. Australia had a serious "white policy" that the rest of the world knows little about. It was discovered that unlike African blacks and their descendants the Aboriginal gene that gives them their features and colour of that race is regressive and if they were "bred" with whites after as little as 4 generations all traces of the Aboriginal ancestry had been "hidden" the Europeans actively attempted to do this. Then there were the outright massacres. The Aborigines I met in the city were herded into one suburb "Redfern" which had been allocated to them when Sydney was being developed. Refern is the first suburb from the CBD and is now undeveloped prime real estate which investors are trying to acquire a form of gentrification, with no regard or gain for the Aborigines. They had no concept of how the financial/banking system worked so they had no morgages meaning that they did not own any of the properties in that suburb. Many were alcoholic and or drug dependant, however in contrast those out in rural areas had a completely different lifestyle and work ethic.
