The Slave Ship "St. Joseph" CBS Special - Shit Brought Tears To My Eyes

Re: The Slave Ship "St. Joseph" CBS Special - Shit Brought Tears To My Eyes

Aye, I'm trying to watch this while I eat, but I can't seem to cast it to chromecast from that link.

Anybody got another source for the whole thing?

for all you gullible muthafuckas..

Lets to a little math..

there will be zero logical response to this..LOL

"1. Over a period of 300 years, is it fair to say that 60,000 slaves were transported annually to the Americas or has the transportation of slaves to the Americas been one big myth?

2. The largest seagoing vessel carried 400 slaves but not all of the ships were that large.

3. Time of passage was 3 - 4 months. That means 200 vessels/ships per year would have to travel carrying 300 people. One ship could make 3 passages per year. The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database says there were 1100 - 1400 voyages made over that 300 year period. If that is the case and each ship carried 400 people, the total number would be 560,000 Africans were transported. It still does not add up."

hmmm maybe because millions were already HERE!!

uh,

transatlantic slave database...

duh

Shit is dead on the homepage of the website, so where in the hell did you read 1100 to 1400 voyages made over a 300 year period?

- arabs just did the heavy lifting for the europeans. The only reason they were involved is because there simply weren't enough europeans to cover so much territory AND make the money. Make no mistake, the europeans were and are the poison of this world. All evil flows from them.
- "arabs" began as several tribes sharing a common religion. BTW that religion was created for them by the europeans; just like they created christianity to control their own, they created an "inferior" religion for people who weren't white.

- if you're going to try to discuss anything pertaining to Black consciousness you really should refrain from using the word n***** in any iteration while referring to other Black men. Makes you sound like a fool.

I just finished watching the episode and the Overtime video.

A few things that were said bothered me.
"What does a black man see that I can't see?" Pelley asks Bunch, while on the ramp.

"He sees a combination of unbelievable pain, a sense of anger, a sense of loss, but also an amazing sense of optimism," Bunch says. For him, Pelley explains, slavery is a story of triumph.

"I want people to realize how amazingly strong the enslaved people must have been to survive that voyage and to survive, in essence, their time on the cross," Bunch says.

"I wish I could, as part of my gift to America, give African Americans that sense of pride in a part of their history that many shy away from."

What makes you sound even dumber is how have you not heard of the Olmecs?

Or better yet, how you you think you've come to know who they are? On your own?

Oh right. Ivan Van Sertima. And I suppose you think he unearthed all the evidence and stories about the Olmecs all on his own.

No of course not. White mans history books. Same with your beloved rock heads who you think were African just because they have big lips.

Mind you, even if the Olmecs did come directly on a boat from Africa way back then, that was thousands of years ago. Thousands. That would mean they came and died off, never to be heard from again, before the Incas, Aztecs, Caribs, Tainos, Arawak, Iroquois, Algonquian, pueblo-- all the natives who actually DO exist today and are clear descendants of who was here when the Europeans came by boat.

You're banking on the slimmest sliver of hope that you would somehow be a descendant of those people who died off 2000 years ago, and your people somehow hid among the Americans, bred amongst themselves to preserve their africanness throughout all this time, and passed that on to you. All of that just so you can say you don't have slavery somewhere in your history lol.

Fuck you who you're calling a N... I wish your great Irish grandmother had swallow, then your trolling ass would never be here.

What truly hurts my heart more than anything else is the fact that we have new age black people denying this ever happened. An entire segment of the so called "conscious community" has been saying for some time that African Americans did not arrive here on slave ships and we are not from Africa. I swear you would never hear a Jew denying their holocaust. :smh:
I dont get the need to mention the jew and paint him as an authority or reference point of self awareness. There are indeed fringe elements of that community which both deny and justify/discount the holocaust. Stop romanticizing those evil muthafuckas in any fashion. The mere mention of them here serves no fucking constructive purpose.

You just said "why don't they talk about the Olmec?"

If "they"
Didn't talk about the Olmec you would've never heard about em.

And no I never heard about them in school. The Olmec history is basically advanced history anyway. Even if they did mention them in schools it would have to be a more advanced history class that takes into account how little is known about them. Historically they're not relevant to anything current day anyway-

UNLESS you're hung up on them being Africans who came before Columbus on boats and singlehandedly launched all civilization on this side of the Atlantic .....which is completely unverifiable and more than likely not true. Actually ,it's definitely just not true.

The Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans , Caribs, Tainos, or any of the North American tribes Who still exist barely get taught in basic school history, and they're far more relevant with more details about their lives filled in via their art, writings about them, oral history and archaeological evidence.

No one met the Olmecs and they left no written history so how much can be told in basic school history programs? Oh yeah, they left some heads that you're hoping so bad are remnants of your own ancestors so you don't have to be regular African.
