(produce by Wyclef and "a friend"). I saw it last week at Festival of Fantasia of Montreal. Man i tell you, My People are suffering

Reminds me a lot of what Rwanda looked like after the war etc. However, as time went on (3-4 month period) things improved noticeably.

This was not a function of the UN being there, because they were mostly assisting with the refugees and trying to convince people to come home.

This was by the will of the people to bring thinks back to "normal" no matter the tragic events. The government used what resources it had including it's troops and even prisonners to rebuild and fix public works and sturctures. This government one of poorest in Africa still managed this. The last 10 or so years since have seen a lot more improvements within it's means and even a parliment which has more women in it numbers wise not just percentage than our own.

I'm not saying they don't still have problems they do. When I see how Haiti and other places are, one has to wonder how the leaders sleep at night. Some of answers on how to change things have come from within, aid is just that AID, help, even a bandaid or dressing has to be changed. Something needs to motivate the people, because it is possible.

I would like to say that Haiti has not always been that way. It is a fairly recent development over the last 15 years or so. In the 80s we used to go there for family holidays and people were happy and living well and it was beautiful and vibrant everywhere. I remember asking my parents why we didn't live so well like that in SXM. Then I went back on a business trip in 1996 and was stunned.
