The Revenant - Movie Review

Lol..The Revenant looks like a serious ass movie! I can't wait to sit down and really absorbed that movie. It seems like one you should experience for the 1st time on the big screen.
the visuals deserve it-
but i watched a screener on my laptop... and from the beginning the movie pulled me in and stoped me from doing anything else until it was over

peace

Eloquently shot (even down to the heat coming off of dead bodies).
Director of Photography needs some type of award & recognition, fuck that...
Hardy had me rolling throughout the flick & him & that other big headed kid Brit (from the MazeRunner series) arguing in them early 'American' southern accents also was entertaining.
Props on them trying to get them Original Native tongues down for the sake of the storytelling.
like I said in another thread
Cinematography, editing, directing, lead actor and supporting actor, should be automatic nominations for this film

they prob not gonna give dicaprio that oscar until he play that serial killer dude..this movie was grimey so to me the next best step is to do that serial killer movie..in fact i'd use the same director and videography team who shot this flick to make that movie...juss in case anybody trying to fig out who i'm talking about henry howard holmes aka the first so called serial killer

The shit reminded me of what I basically watch the most on tv, NGC, Discovery & AnimalPlanet type shit & actually I threw it back on where I left off right after watching LifeBelowZero where dude up way north in Alaska was bow hunting a Black Bear.
Screenwriter & definitely DOP deserve theirs.

what is the best file sharing site (hugefiles, etc.) to actually pay a subscription for?
you don't need to pay for hugefiles, it tells you to create a free account to download more than 1gb a day
thats all you need to do create a free account with hugefiles
10gb a day with a free account

What makes this film that much more incredible is that the director and DP used natural light. Sometimes they would have to wait hours for the lighting to be correct before they could start shooting. If you know anything about production, this is the most amazing thing ever. Shooting a feature length film of this scope and degree only using ambient light is bonkers.

Best Cinematography, Editing, and Directing. No question.

what problems did you have with it?

I'm not saying it was a bad movie. But I expected ALOT more! The story right off the bat was weak to me. The catalyst was weak and the follow through was weaker(not stating specifics for obvious spolier reasons). This was not even close to Decarprio's best performance. Besides a few parts(Bear attack which looked CGI) I was bored!

Tom Hardy was a completely wasted! Now I truly understand why he said(not my words and just paraphrasing) he regards walking out on Suicide Squad to do the Revenant!

No-one is questioning the way the movie looked or it was shot. It's a beautiful looking movie.

you gotta be shitting me

Just watched it last night with the fam and the cinematography was on point. The shots of the landscape in the woods very picturesque. All the shots in this movie were a real work of art man it was like watching a story within national geographic just a beautifully shot film. Should win best picture.

Glass the main character, if that man really been through all that shit. Couldn't nothing kill that fucker. :smh:

Revenant was a seriously gritty tough movie and pretty accurate depiction of frontier life.

I recommend this film. It should win a few Oscars.

That's why the movie cost 160 million to make
Y'all think they going to make that money back ?

In comparison hateful eight only cost 60 million

They will eventually make it back. It will win some awards which typically helps box office. If Leo gets a nomination, it will definitely make its bread back.

damn this movie make me feel like a bitch for turning on the heat if it drop below 70 in the house :smh: fwiw tho in winter in NYC and I had no heat for a nite and I stayed up in that bitch...was too stubborn to go to my girl house or my folks much less spring for a hotel...threw on a skully and my coat and slept in that bitch :D

why I love screener season...so far none of the movies woulda made me feel like it was worth sitting in the theater for it...still a good movie tho...that bear scene was overrated af...him gutting/sleeping in that horse got more of a reaction outta me

I watch it on Wed morning and i like it!!.this movie was good!!..dude went thru alot hard shit in this movie..i can't believe he live!!.but damn good movie!!..

off the top of my head

Apocalypto
and
Seraphim falls with liam neeson
seraphim falls was gangsta as hell and the first time I saw the horse gutting survival....
but that was not as well shot or edited as the Revenant also didn't maintain tension / pacing as well

Apocalypto is a much better movie than Revenant, but IMO its in a different genre

btw- I hope Mel makes another real film
