None of the presidential candidates are talking about this. Which means they are woefully ignorant or woefully involved. The border patrol has free reign 100 miles into the United States. We also have combat Units deployed inside the United States. If you know any soldiers, or agents of the state. Talk to them about freedom and the Constitution and their duty to rebel against Unconstitutional laws and procedures.

Re: Is America already A Police State?

good stuff, Naomi Wolf is my homegirl

Maybe Americans will wake up when their family is being rounded up for "special training" at the FEMA camps. "Work is Freedom"
Or it may come when their heads are getting blown the fuck off
Or when they go to get the special Avian Flu vaccine that's contaminated. $954 million in the stimulus for vaccinations, 250 million doses. What are they gearing up for?

People better wake up to these FEMA Camps! One step away

Schwarzenegger Opens California Fairgrounds to Homeless Camp

March 25 (Bloomberg) -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said a make-shift tent city for the homeless that sprang up in the capital city of Sacramento will be shut down and its residents allowed to stay at the state fairgrounds.

Schwarzenegger said he ordered the state facility known as Cal-Expo to be used for three months to serve the 125 tent city residents, some of them displaced by the economic recession. The encampment may be shut down within a month, said Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. The move comes after the Sacramento City Council last night agreed to spend $880,000 to expand homeless programs.

“Together with the local government and volunteers, we are taking a first step to ensure the people living in tent city have a safe place to stay, with fresh water, healthy conditions and access to the services they need,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement. “And I am committed to working with Mayor Johnson to find a permanent solution for those living in tent city.”

California, home to one of every eight Americans, has been particularly hard hit by the housing market collapse after many residents turned to exotic mortgages to afford homes. The tent city, which has long existed along the banks of the America River, gained national attention last month when some of its recently homeless residents were featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

The state has one of the highest rates of foreclosure, according to RealtyTrac Inc., an Irvine, California-based seller of real estate data. California home prices dropped 41 percent last month from a year earlier, more than double the U.S. decline, as surging foreclosures drove down values, the state Association of Realtors said today.

State Unemployment

The state’s unemployment rate rose to 10.5 percent in February, as construction, financial and manufacturing companies eliminated jobs, leaving the most-populous U.S. state with one of the nation’s worst job markets.

The shelter at Cal-Exp currently houses about 150 people. It will be expanded by another 50 beds, and will include facilities for families with children.

Re: Paul Craig Roberts: The U.S. is a Police State

It makes you wonder if people "deserve" whatever they get.

You call out the government and people will apologize, excuse, ignore, or deny abuses, crimes, and excesses.

Of course, when people finally wake up, it will be too late, yet again.

I don't care how smart people think they are, they always do the most stupid, predictable, and self-destructive things over and over again under the guise of success or being a winner or being better than the next man, or keeping their place.

Perception is reality. As long as Cheney, Clinton, the Bush Clan and the media outlets dictate policy, shape reality, we can expect more of the same.

Re: Paul Craig Roberts: The U.S. is a Police State

I see what they do to people in police states and compare it what I am dealing with and see no difference. Once you get red flagged, they jump all over you.

People dying trying to come here don't know what they are getting into.

Re: Paul Craig Roberts: The U.S. is a Police State

Some of us have become too dependent on govt, that gives some people in public office a 'godlike complex'. They become corrupt and abuse power they don't really have. The problem is not govt, we don't have a police state, the problem is citizens not holding govt reps accountable.

Re: Paul Craig Roberts: The U.S. is a Police State

Some people fail to see what the issue is, I was reading the bio of Eartha Kitt when she passed, she rolled up on the President's wife bashing the Vietnam War. Blacklisted from Hollywood, had to leave the country to survive, even though she was at the height of her career. The government didn't throw her in jail for 30 years, or assassinate her...

Rosa Parks, complained about sitting at the back of the bus, she and her husband were blacklisted from getting a job. Ever wonder why most civil rights leaders are preachers?

Some lady complained about the no bid contracts given out during the Iraq War, had three Master's degrees, excellent performance reviews. Performance reviews trashed, stripped of position and demoted.

Just recently, some doctor from McAllen, TX agreed that doctors were overbilling, lost 70 percent of referrals from other doctors in town. I could go on and on with many other examples

You should be free to do whatever, without reprisals to your employment or business. None of this hidden retaliation bullshit, I rather sit in jail for 30 years than be blacklisted.

In the end, we have many elements of a police state, just hidden.
