It looks like the oil companies attempted to buy the patents and thwart its development. They could have established a business model with the electric car and prepared for the future.

People were achieving ranges of 160 plus in the 90's with this technology. It looks like the oil companies and the auto manufacturers were attempting to lock out small companies like Tesla from coming in and making orders. Tesla had to use laptop batteries, when they could have placed an order with this company. No way they could have placed an order for 10,000.

Do you see solar powered, biofuel, and hydrogen charging stations for cars being built by these companies?

dude all this shit is fifty year old technology,

they only allowing it to come out now.

because folks are fiquring out how to get their

cars to run on shit like vegatable oil

then they really got shook when

folks started figuring out how to get cars to

run on simple h20.

I think its general motors that has a solar powered

car out already....

Their old system is dead, they are using every magic

trick in the book to keep the illusion going..

I hope Africa focuses on free energy, and not this dinosaur fossil fuel bullshit...

No driver of a '97 EV1 would never dream of a drive like this in a lead-acid pack-equipped car. I drove 163.3 miles on one charge! Most of the drive was on fairly level terrain, the only notable exception was the hill on the 60 Freeway traveling west from the 605 freeway. I began the trip at 10:00 pm (outside temperature: 55 degrees) from my home in the Wilshire "Miracle Mile" district of Los Angeles, and drove I-10 west and I-405 as far south as El Toro Rd. near Laguna Hills. At the time I got off the freeway to turn around, I had traveled 65 miles and had only used 5 out of 11 bars on the charge indicator. The range indicator showed 98 miles remaining, for a total of 163 miles (this turned out to be a very accurate indication - I had driven 163.3 miles when I pulled into my garage with no charge bars remaining)
We could be driving in electric cars 10 years ago, removing billions of tons of carbon from the air, going on the second generation. The technology existed many years ago.

Tesla had to take mass-produced laptop batteries to put in their cars to get around this crap. We need laws on the books banning the interference of any company with a rival technology, it is anti-capitalist.

Ever notice how they got 15,000 mile oil changes are appearing on the market and 150,000 coolant with 150,000 transmission fluid.

Knowing the lack of maintenance with electrics, they are beefing up this aspect of gas cars to compete with electrics.
