yep... they still finished with a top defense... but with Perk.. they were the number one defense in the league.. people really underestimate how much perkins relieved KG on the defensive end.. KG would save energy and help on weak-side defense..
and liek you said Ubuntu... Perkins didnt put up big numbers..but all the players said he was the real heart and soul of the team..players loved him... look at the players after the trade...i cant recall any trade affecting players and coaches so much... those guys were almost crying during the post-trade interviews...
i understand their claimed philosophy regarding the trade... but you had the top record in the east and the CBA coming...i dont think it was necessary to pull the trigger on that.... and green really added nothing they celtics needed.

So that's your crutch Rondo? Rondo was not a factor pre or post injury. With a healthy Rondo they were not beating the Heat. You have failed to realize that this team took a turn for the worst in late February. We all told you this. The records showed. Why will they be better next year when they are a year older and slower?
Damn near half the team is in the final year of their contracts. Big Baby. Jeff Greene. Nenand. Delonte. You got Shaquille for another year, and we all know he'll be lucky to play 1/3 of the season. but if the NBA is locked out for any amount of time, that's just more grey in Boston's beard.

Perkins and Rondo were young so was Davis that is a relatively cheap strong team that needs a superstar to make a run ... I would have never cut Perk ... only way that makes sense if if he seemed unlikely to recover from his knee or lost a step .... neither was the case .. both O'neals are notorious for being out of shape, not playing hard or many games
