The Official Flash Thread Discussion

I thought he wanted to crash the plane to become more powerful

They had said he gained strength when flash hit him, I thought he wanted to absorb the kinetic energy of crashing from 30k feet :dunno:

Sadly that was them guessing since we never heard anything out of dudes mouth and that still makes no sense..... How would he know he is going to survive that crash?

nice start so far ....she was looking good in her costume...

Never gets old...

She really is an underrated actress. I've had a thing for her since The Secret Circle, but she really impressed me on Black Sails.

Update

Damn I just noticed that she is fucking 34.. Damn Bianca Lawson is like 39.

We always talk about Bianca being Immortal... when Jessica Parker is just 5 years behind her.

your welcome.

There’s nothing about gridlock to establish that dude could have survived a fucking plane crash.. yet his sole intention was to steal some shit and crash a plane.

They established pretty quickly and reiterated throughout the episode that he absorbed kinetic energy and it made him more powerful. I was satisfied with that.....and we both know his sole reason for being there was to get merced at the end by the real big bad, who I'm sure will get plenty of development. But as has been well documented here....theres nothing to complain about with all these fine ass black women on this show.

he Flash Premiere Had Arrowverse's First Batwoman Easter Egg

The fifth season premiere of The Flash surprised fans by making the first official reference to the existence of Batwoman, months ahead of her first scheduled appearance during the annual Arrowverse crossover event this winter. The episode also dropped a number of references to the classic comic book mini-series Crisis On Infinite Earths, which has been hinted as an eventual occurrence in the future of the Arrowverse.

Batwoman's arrival in the Arrowverse was first announced shortly before San Diego Comic Con 2018, when the news broke that The CW was considering developing a television series based around Kate Kane, a cousin of Bruce Wayne who unintentionally followed in his footsteps when she became a vigilante. It was later confirmed that not only was The CW developing the series, but they intended to introduce Kate Kane as part of Elseworlds - the next annual Arrowverse crossover event. Ruby Rose, of Orange Is The New Black fame, was ultimately cast in the role of Kate Kane.

The nod to Batwoman came near the end of the third segment of "Nora." The action of the episode centered around Nora West-Allen, the future daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen, accidentally traveling back in time to before she was born and meeting her parents shortly after they got married. Barry quickly realized something was up when Nora seemed more concerned about spending time with him than doing the same with Iris and asked Nora, point blank, if that had anything to do his disappearance during a crisis in 2024, which he had read about in a future newspaper. Nora responded by showing Barry a newspaper from her time - the year 2049 - and confirming that he never returned home and that she grew up without a father.

Published 25 years to the day after the original article from the future, which was first seen in the first episode of The Flash, the 2049 article discusses the same crisis, but with a bit more detail. The 2024 article mentioned The Flash disappearing while fighting alongside Green Arrow, The Atom, and Hawkgirl. The 2049 article lists a larger number of heroes being involved in the battle, including Batwoman. The article says:

"But in the years following the crisis, accounts only grew more contradictory. Some eyewitnesses remember dozens of other heroes present, including Green Arrow, Batwoman, and Elongated Man. Others remember heroes thought lost in time, like The Atom, or from other worlds, like Supergirl. Some even contend they saw Reverse-Flash leading an army of ‘shadow demons'."

It is interesting to note that Batwoman is mentioned in the same sentence as Green Arrow and Elongated Man - two heroes who frequently fight alongside The Flash on Earth-One. Until now, it had not been confirmed what Earth in the Arrowverse Kate Kane would be based on, though most assumed she would be from Earth 38 - the same Earth as Supergirl - as that would make it easier for the two to team-up in the future, in the same way that Batman and Superman frequently join forces in the comics. The wording of the article would suggest, however, that Kate Kane will be from Earth-One.

The mention of Reverse-Flash leading an army of shadow demons is another point of interest, given that shadow demons were the main mooks of The Anti-Monitor - the villain of the Crisis On Infinite Earths mini-series, where The Flash seemingly died saving the multiverse. The article also makes mention of The Psycho Pirate - another super-villain who had a major role in the events of The Crisis. It has long been suspected that the Arrowverse would eventually reenact Crisis On Infinite Earths in live-action and this latest bit of news about Batwoman from The Flashpremiere seems to make that probability all the more certain.

The Flash Fixes Plot Hole By Secretly Changing Arrowverse History

WARNING: The Following Article Contains Spoilers For The "Nora" Episode of The Flash.

-

The season 5 premiere of The Flash subtly covered up a major plot-hole, which was introduced into the series during its fourth season, when Ralph Dibny - The World Famous Elongated Man - was introduced into The Arrowverse. The Flash is no stranger to complicated plots, regularly incorporating multiple universes and time travel, but instead of creating more plot holes, season 5 is patching them up.

The problem goes back to the first season of The Flash and the episode 'Power Outage'. In this episode, an electricity-draining metahuman called Blackout targeted STAR Labs and Dr. Harrison Wells, whom he blamed (not unfairly) for the particle accelerator explosion that ruined his life. When Blackout confronted Dr. Wells and accused him of not caring about all of the people his experiment hurt, Wells quietly replied that he cared very deeply and he had memorized the names of every person who died or went missing that night, so he would always remember the price of his failure. The names Dr. Wells listed off included a number of superhero secret identities from the comics, including Ralph Dibny.

This didn't mean much until the fourth season of The Flash, which introduced Ralph Dibny into the show as a recurring character. The disgraced cop turned private investigator was one of the 12 "bus metas" created by the super-villain called The Thinker, to give him the powers necessary to enact his sinister plans. While the vast majority of fans didn't remember Dr. Wells' speech from the first season, there were some who wondered just how Ralph could be around when Dr. Wells remembered him as having died.

The fifth season opener 'Nora' provided an artful solution. Confronted with the existence of Nora West-Allen - Barry Allen and Iris's West's daughter from thirty years in the future - a confused Ralph asked how time-travel was possible. It turned out that, in all the excitement involving The Thinker and Ralph's imminent death over the past year, nobody had ever bothered to explain to Ralph that speedsters can time-travel, that Team Flash was friends with a group of time-travelers and that there are multiple parallel Earths. This ultimately leads Ralph to ask Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow one question - "If Barry can go back in time, why didn't he stop The Thinker from killing me?"

ADVERTISING
As they struggled to think of a simple answer, Ralph replied that he was joking. Though he's a detective rather than a scientist, Ralph figured that Barry didn't try to change the past because it wasn't worth the risk of making things worse by trying to fix things. Ralph then joked that if Barry had gone back and changed the past trying to save Ralph's life, he might have created an alternate timeline where Ralph died in the particle accelerator explosion instead of being killed by The Thinker.

As fans of The Flash will remember, Barry did once try to go back in time to save his mother's life in the season 3 premiere "Flashpoint," which was based on the classic comic book storyline of the same name. Given that Barry's actions there had a number of unintended side-effects, such as activating Caitlin's meta-gene, changing John Diggle's daughter Sara into his son John Jr. and killing Cisco's brother, suggesting that Ralph's existence is another unintended side-effect of Barry's altering the timeline of The Arrowverse is a brilliant conceit. We'll just have to hope the show's writers don't stretch their luck trying to use this to excuse more plot holes in the future... or the past.

I think I see where this season is going...or at least one aspect. Nora (is that her name? the fine ass daughter) wants to learn how to be more like Barry, so she wants to spend all her time with him. In her timeline, she had Iris but not Barry. But because of that, her Iris is very different from the Iris we know. I think what shes gonna realize over the course fo the season is the person who can best teach her how to be the Flash is young sexy ass moms.

The Flash's New Ring Suit Was Made By ......

The season 5 premiere of The CW's The Flash reveals that The Atom aka Ryan Choi invented Barry Allen's latest costume. Barry's comic book counterpart uses the Flash Ring to store his costume, and now it's finally come to the small screen; the new suit - made of spandex, not leather - was given to Barry (Grant Gustin) by Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy), his time-traveling daughter from the future.

In Tuesday's episode of The Flash, Barry tried to help Nora return to the future in an effort to preserve the timeline. Her presence complicates matters when she inadvertently thwarts Barry's attempts to a defeat a new metahuman called Gridlock. While spending time with Nora, Barry learns more about his family's future and his impending disappearance. After defeating Gridlock, Barry decides to let Nora remain in the present for a while longer.

During the episode, Barry's suit is damaged, causing Nora to give him a "back-up" which is somehow stored in a ring. Thus far, all of Barry's suits have been designed by Cisco (Carlos Valdez), but Nora reveals that this particular costume was invented by Ryan Choi. Though Nora doesn't elaborate on who Choi is, the character's identity can be found in the comics. Ryan Choi is an Asian-American superhero and the fourth character to carry the mantle of "The Atom". He was the protégé of the second Atom, Ray Palmer. Palmer, played by Brandon Routh, is a major character on Legends of Tomorrow and one of the Arrowverse's most prominent scientific minds.

Choi being the inventor of the Flash Ring and the costume actually makes a lot of sense considering his scientific expertise. Like Palmer, Choi works with technology that involves shrinking, and while it isn't stated explicitly, this is presumably what's being used.

While the mention of Choi could just be another fun Easter egg like the references to the Justice League in season 2, this could open the door for the character to appear in some point in the future, either in The Flash or in Legends of Tomorrow.

Choi's version of the Atom could be part of the next generation of heroes; another of these characters, Lightning Lad, was also directly mentioned in The Flash premiere. More of these may be name-dropped in the episodes to come, and could even appear if Barry ever has to visit Nora's future.[/spoiler]

SO i like what’s happening early on but my problem
Is that this how last season started...

Flash has no problems with the beginning and the end of the season ... their problems come in the middle and right now I just don’t know if Cicada alone can carry this 24 episode season.

welp, we got our gay character.

Flash, Arrow and Black Lightning all have gay kids.

Supergirl has a gay sister.
