if the data isn't actually damaged just take the disc to get buffed at a hollyweird video or a place that fixes busted systems, they're sure to have a buffer at one of those specialty stores and like magic they will make it look brand new

Hit control+F and search for Sent. You don't have to watch 'em, but see how many times the name comes up. That site collects vids from the top players in the world, and specifically Evolution, the main tourney for fighting games as of now. You should watch some though, they're fun to watch.
