This thread proves a point I was making to my student on how different black folks in America are based on location and environment from cost to coast.
Blacks being pushed out of major cities because of pricing. Unable to gain any stability causing us to not be able to hold on to property.
Folks in these southern small country towns may be ignorant to an extent due to poor education and economics. However, many have property that has been passed down generations. The problem is that no one wants to do the country living. Kids move to the city and away from family. Some make it work, others fall victims to poor choices.
Blacks from the South Is not going to be able to just uproot from here an expect to compete in the big city. Especially when they have lots of family still in these small towns.
It's has always been easier for blacks to transition from major cities to the south. Especially if the money is the same or similar.
The ONLY reason for me to move out west is to make more money. Entertainment is perspective. But my entire family is here. Most black folk on the east coast that are from up north have family in the south.
We can go back and forth about the pros and cons of one place to another, but the truth is black folk in the south are different than blacks in the west and even north.
Wealth and economics for blacks starts where? And how far you need to go and how long will it take to build that wealth?
Again, it's easier in the south. But just because it's easier doesn't mean it's easy. Opportunities are limited and so are jobs. It's hard to be stable in a city, easier in the country.
