Michie Mee, Canada`s 1st LaDy of HiP HoP started performing professionally at 14 years old. Thru payin` dues & perfectin` her SKiLLs she ended up being featured on the 1987 all~Canadian HiP HoP compilation "Break`n Out", the compilation itself was produced by Scott La Rock & KRS-One of Boogie Down Productions. A year later (1988) all her hard work finally paid off because she became the 1st Canadian rapper to sign a deal with an American record label. First Priority/ Atlantic was her new home & it`s on this label that she teamed up with LA Luv to release her debut album "Jamaican Funk - Canadian Style" in 1991. Michie`s collab`D with numerous artists throughout her career such as MC Lyte, Patra, Dream Warriors & Shabba Ranks. In 1995 she became a vocalist for the Alternative Rock/ Reggae band Raggadeath, they had singles with "One Life" & "Dance With The Devil". As an actor, she was featured in the CBC Television series "Drop The Beat" & the flicks "My Baby`s Daddy" & "In Too Deep"...

4. In The Mix
5. Eenie Meenie Beats
6. My Dope Intro
7. Let`s Get Hyped

9. Time Tah Get Stupid
10. Is It Love?

Takin` it back with J.J. Fad`s "Supersonic", their debut album -- also the title to their one & only hit. Listening to the album now you can almost point out the place & time that the music was created; Nineteen-Eighty-Eight in Los Angeles...bringin` to mind of course N.W.A. -- surprising to some N.W.A.`s production team, consisting of DJ Yella, Dr. Dre & the Arabian Prince, produced the bulk of the album. Production~wise it`s almost like they were paying homage to their West Coast Electro~Rap roots from the mid~`80's, but the beatS are perfect mesh for Sassy C, MC J.B. & Baby D`s style & flow. Aside from the couple of Pop~vibe`D tracks this joint`s definitely worth a listen if you`d like to take a lil` step back into the Ol` School...

3. Who`s The Boss?
4. Watch The Gangstress Boogie

7. Lights Out, Party`s Over

11. Baby Make It Boom

Went toe to toe with MC Lyte, their battle was legendary since they were the next generation of battling female emcees & they both dropped that fire! This album is CLaSSiC in my opinion because she came iLL on most of these tracks & the production`s DoPe as well! I think Ced Gee handled the production, there was some rumor about Big Daddy Kane helping out as well...

For y`all that don`t know about Nini X a.k.a. Bloody Mary a.k.a. Nina Ross, she hails from Steubenville, OH/ Los Angeles, CA & was featured on the hit track "Piru Love" from the `93 Bloods & Crips album "Bangin` On Wax", also featured on "Assassin Hitworks Vol. 1" (as Nina Ross/ Bloody Mary) & Tweedy Bird Loc`s `92 album "187 Ride By" on the tracks "My Dick Is Prejudice", "A Hoe Is A Bitch", "Murder One", "Black Court In Session" & "Jackin` For Transpo". Known to a few as one of Rap`s first lady Gangsta RapperS, Nini X dropped "She`s Dangerous" in 1994 with features from Tweedy Bird Loc & few other katS. Unfortunately this is the only album the World will ever see from Nini X as she is no longer with us. She was ridin` her motorcycle & became part of an accident due to a an Escalade that was involved in a high~speed police chase tryin` to out~run the PoRK~CHoP PaTRoL, as a result Nini was placed into a brain~dead state & subsequently her Life support was pulled November 19, 2006...

Nonchalant - Until The Day
Released: March 26, 1996
Label: MCA Records

1. Intro (1:54)
2. It`s All Love (4:59)
3. Crab Rappers (4:28)
4. 5 O`Clock (4:47)
5. Lookin` Good To Me (4:27)

10. Until The Day (4:45)
11. Mr. Good Stuff (5:04)
12. Thank You (4:24)
13. Outro (1:30)

Nonchalant, an iLL femcee from Washington D.C. dropped "Until The Day" back in `96. Y`all should remember her from her hit single "5 O`Clock", speaking about Black~on~Black crime...anyways she`s got a smooth`D out, laid~back style of flow & she dropS some intelligent lyricS over some R&B~laced beatS on her first & only album. The album`s DoPe (my opinion of course), but I think it suffered sales~wise because a lot of folkS felt the beatS were too R&B minded & her socio~political lyricS came off as too preachy, kind of like what katS say about KRS-One. Regardless of it`s commercial success, the album itself is straight up solid; rhythmically, lyrically & musically (that`s a lot of lly`s:). Sure there`s a lot of R&B-drenched trackS, but they`re consistently appealing & Nonchalant`s lyrics & flow only help to add replay value to them jointS. Stand~out jointS; "5 O`Clock", "Crab Rappers" & "Lights `n` Sirens"...

For those that aren`t familiar with Digga (where the fuck have ya been, under a rock?!) I`ll drop a lil` info` for ya. Rah Digga was at one time the only female member of the Flipmode Squad, her style of rapping is hard~hitting & in ya` face. Born in New Jersey, she attended a private school in Maryland & studied electrical engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She started rapping with Twice The Flavor & was the only woman in Jersey`s Da Outsidaz clique. When A Tribe Called Quest`s Q-Tip discovered her at a performance at New York`s famed Lyricist Lounge, he introduced her to Busta Rhymes who then invited her to join the Flipmode Squad. As a part of that HiP HoP clique she appeared on Rhymes` 1997 album "When Disaster Strikes" & the Flipmode Squad`s "The Imperial" album from 1998. She also appeared on the Fugees` track "Cowboys" & collab`D with Bahamadia on "Be OK" from the "Lyricist Lounge Vol. 1" album. Her full-length solo debut, "Dirty Harriet" arrived in 2000 & featured cameos from Busta Rhymes & the Ruff Ryders` Eve...

It`s just too bad that she wasn`t used to her full potential while ridin` with Flipmode. She was definitely being slept on, especially with that backing. They could`ve dropped some BiG things, but I guess that`s the way the road rollS for a whole lot of the ladieS rippin` the mic for this BiTCH we call HiP HoP. Oh well Digga...I`m BiGG`n ya up ma, keep doin` ya` thang! For those that haven`t heard Digga`s debut album slap ya`self now then DL it & BuMP that ish up in ya` stereo, your Discman, mp3 Player, ya` iPod or whatever - just listen to it...

22. Whoo Kid & Lil` Kim Outro (0:44)
23. No One [Rmx] {Alicia Keys ft. Lil` Kim} (3:24)

Lil` Kim is taking it back to the essence of the mixtape by reaching out to Whoo Kid & Mr. Cee. Before the artist mixtape was the thing to do, it was really the move to get tight with at least one DJ & BLeSS `em with material that no one else has. Lil` Kim does just that on "The G.O.A.T". She keeps it straight Brooklyn by teaming up with the infamous DJ that helped launch her mentor`s career. This is one for the collection if you're a Kim fan, but this is definitely for the Hip Hop head `cause Kim can spit...

1997 album from the lead rapper of Gangsta Rap group H.W.A., Babygirl. This joint here has a heavy Southern vibe to it beat~wise, lyrically Babygirl does her thing but she won`t be going down in the history bookS as an iLL lyricist. Her style`s similar to Lil` Kim or Foxy Brown, actually maybe it`s the other way around but y`all get the idea...

25. Get With Da Wickedness [Rmx]
26. Afro Puffs [Extended Rmx] {ft. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg}

I was an instant fan of The Lady Of Rage as soon as I heard the opening lines from her hit single "Afro Puffs"...

"I rock on with my bad self `cuz it`s a must
It`s the Lady Of Rage still kickin` up dust
So umm, let me loosen up my bra strap
And umm, let me boost ya with my raw rap
`Cuz I`ma break it down to the nitty~gritty one time
When it comes to the lyrics I gets busy with mine"...

She sure does...workin` with kats like Chubb Rock, L.A. Posse, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Daz, Kurupt, 2Pac, Bad Azz, Gangstarr etc. Now folkS tell me that she was discovered by the Chubbster, but I`ve also been told that she was down with a crew called The Outlaw Posse consisting of Unique, Kilo & Shahkim who happened to have a production deal with The L.A. Posse at the time. After networkin` with The Outlaw Posse & The L.A. Posse she ended up working on the 1991 L.A. Posse album "They Come In All Colors", around the same time she also had an uncredited appearance as Rockin` Robin on "Bring `Em Home Safely" a track from Chubb Rock`s "The One" album...

Apparently Dr. Dre heard her work on The L.A. Posse album & that`s when Suge Knight called her up & convinced her to head to L.A....we all know what happened then, she signed to Death Row Records & put in work on some CLaSSiC albums, mainly Dr. Dre`s "The Chronic", Snoop Dogg`s "Doggstyle" & the "Above The Rim Soundtrack" which featured "Afro Puffs". She dropped her solo debut in 1997 titled "Necessary Roughness", a year later she left Death Row & the music industry to focus on acting. It paid off, she ended up landing the role as Coretta Cox on the Steve Harvey Show...

Well that`s all I know about homegirl, it really is a shame that Death Row waited so long to release her solo joint. It should`ve dropped around the same time as the "Above The Rim Soundtrack" did to capitalize off the buzz "Afro Puffs" had, but that`s another story. So here`s a lil` Lady Of Rage mix I put together a few days ago. It`s a good collection of her tracks, I just couldn`t find that L.A. Posse album so that`s really all that`s missing. BiG uPs to my lil` bro` for helpin` me work on a quick cover -- anyway check out the mix...

8. She`s Bad
9. All Aboard
10. Ghetto Tears
11. Go Down On It
12. Murder Squad 4 Hire
13. Creep Wit My Chrome [CD-Only Bonus Track]

Sh`Killa was one of the few female rapper$ to emerge from the `90`s West Coast Gangsta Rap scene. A member of the Murder Squad, she dropped "Gangstrez From Da Bay" in 1996 on G.W.K. Records, produced by West Coast Gangsta rapper$ Havoc & Prodeje. The album itself was very influenced by the Dr. Dre/ Warren G G-Funk type of sound, but even though the album`s sound doesn`t really stand out there are a few BaNG`n beatS & catchy hookS. Sh`Killa`s style of rappin` isn`t nearly as complex as say MC Lyte or Jean Grae, she basically goes for the shock value with a G`d up twist...
