The Folding Phone Impressions!

The colors on the phone seemed a bit washed out. Under wallpapers there is an option to dim wallpaper when using dark mode. I turned that off and the coloring much better. It was turned on under my old phone also but the color was still better.

Mine just got delivered. I probably won't power it up until Sunday. Got a few thing to do this afternoon and work tomorrow. Sunday is a free day. Plus I need a case. My 1st foldable. I hope im not disappointed
Which color did you get?

I thought the batter would be horrible, but I got over 6 hours on screen time yesterday with about 20% left by 11pm. I'll keep monitoring, but I'm not one of those people who has the phone screen on for half my day

I was tempted; especially after watching Floss, damn him. With the incentives I would have been paying less than 800 bucks but I had the Fold 4 I think and I had to exchange it twice - with all the attendant bullshit Samsung puts you through.

The Folds I had one screen lost tactile and the second developed a black line/bubble under the fold and I didn't unfold it much at all.
Apparently they've corrected all that but I don't need the big screen now.

That said, I dislike the absence of an integrated s-pen. I think I'll stick to my Ultras but damn that new tech always looks so sexy.

Yeah I'll miss the pen. I bet they bring it back with the next one. Or release another version of the current one with it.

Floss can sell ice to Eskimos. Everytime I visit his channel he costs me money. He's supposed to do the Snyder cut for the flip 7 sometime on Monday.

I don't have the fold but I have the flip 7 and I think the screen will last longer than previous models. When it folds it doesn't have the sharper v angle the old flip does. It's more of a U shape so there is less stress where it bends. When I first looked at the phone it seemed completely flat. I have to consciously look for the crease to find it. It's lovely.

Possible s pen work around. You have to watch it on YT. I saw comments that either the s fold 7 case by either ninki or nillkin comes with a stylus that works. You don't get all the features of course, but it lets you write on the screen again.

Yeah Floss will have me hemorrhaging money if I don't put a few days between watching and buying. But I'm a cat person so I love to see White Shoes.

Anyway I forgot to mention that when the phone folds people tend to think "screen" but the wires inside also have to fold/bend. I think that's where the issues with my first one were. I'm guessing they figured that out. Dunno. But it remains I don't need it and I have to stick to that. I just love that new car smell.

The case, or one of the cases I had that Samsung actually sent me had a slot for the pen. I didn't bother to get or use the pen tho. The case made the phone too bulky.

Mine arrives tomorrow. Let us know how you like it.
Love it. I mean everything is just an improvement over the fold 5. The only thing I dislike is the slower charging. The biggest feature used by me over the years is the baked in animate gif maker of anything screen. Samsung changed that from a 15 second recorder to 30 seconds but damn web image hosts don't allow the larger uploads. Both of these screens are amazing. Loving the fold 7.

Yeah, I use that gif feature a lot. You can resize them with YouCut

I got to see the Fold 7 in person the other day and immediately fell in love. I had a Fold 4 but the screen cracked on it and ended up getting a S23 Ultra as the replacement while waiting for the warranty replacement. I got so used to the S23 that I didn't use the replacement Fold so now I'm gonna use that as a trade-in unless I can find someone willing to buy a brand new Fold 4 for more than the $800 Samsung is offering as trade-in value.

Samsung's tri-fold is officially on the horizon
Just when you thought Samsung’s hardware lineup for the year was set, the company reminds us it still has a few tricks up its sleeve. Beyond the rumored XR headset, the long-awaited tri-fold phone is something we’ve been tracking for a while, and now we finally have a clearer picture of its arrival.

Speaking to the media at IFA in Berlin, Samsung's head of mobile, TM Roh, confirmed that the development of this ambitious new device is in the "final stage." He went on to say that the company plans to release it "by the end of this year." While there’s no specific date, that gives us a three-month window. Don’t expect a global launch, however. All signs point to this first-generation device, possibly called the Galaxy Z TriFold, being a limited release in select markets to test the waters before a wider launch next year.
