The fact that kids all around the world didn’t understand the significance of thiscene makes me sad

:roflmao:
Man, I’m 34 and barely remember that shit. I was between 3 and 9 when that show aired.

interesting I am only a few years older than you but show was part of my DNA.

When blk shows like this and Cosby went into syndication it was much watch, especially since I didn't usually have cable growing up

Guess I'll muddy the water a little but I'm only 32 and I loved this show. I was too young to see most of the run the first time around, but I watched it religiously when it aired in syndication.

I remember the show, but zero episodes. I didn't watch it religiously. I remember it coming on and the theme song. A few scenes stick out in my head.

I guess there was enough Black TV shows in the 90s where my time was split with something else.

I remember Martin, Living Single, Roc, Hanging With Mr. Cooper, Parenthood, The Cosby Show, Sister Sister, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, and so forth.

Damn man what happened to sitcoms with strong black families as the central cast? I could probably rattle off another 10 great shows from that era to add to that list. I don't watch as much TV as I used to, but outside of Blackish is there anything on TV currently that could stand shoulder to shoulder with the shows from that era.

those sitcoms are there there are just more choices now...more channels streaming etc...20-30 YEARS ago if you wanted black entertainment you have fewer choices and less channels.

All those shows listed...honestly...how well would they do TODAY??? would they stand out or be lost in the cacophony of noise from the streaming, social media and 1000 channel packages??
