The Choose Yourself Guide To Wealth

Bgol has had some "Jewel" members. Cats that go out of their way to bring the light. Many won't even see or appreciate them as such for a bounty of reasons. But for those of us that are actively out there in the world. We see all the walking dead! The folks that don't even try, soulless and lifeless! Simply, just existing!

My respect level is so deep for gents like Kaya, Sean69(RIP), LesW(RIP), JohnGault(RIP), Count23, LargeBill, SelfScience and one or two others.

They provide a "rare giving" that they don't have to but do! Moreso, what they give is deeply rich.

:cheers::bravo:

Wait John and Les are gone too?! I knew personally about Sean's struggles with cancer, but John and Les died or we just don't know because they're M.I.A.? Holy shit if this is true...

John very likely, unfortunately! I personally knew he was in and out of the hospital. Not quite sure about LesW.

World's best kept secret is that "OUR HEALTH IS OUR ONLY REAL WEALTH" anything else is borrowed including our lives. It is strange to fear death but we spend our lives working toward and investing in death. Blacks do not know about their true identity and therefore instead of being raised off of breast milk and water. Then when they start teething eat only raw organic fruits and vegetables. Churches are not the temple of God. Our bodies is. It is true the black man is God if he becomes himself again he can take the world back from Satan (whites).

Wow! :smh: All those you named are good brothas. This hits home seriously. I would build for hours with John, Sean and Les. Rest In Power for real...

Serious stuff! I'll put out an inquiry to HNIC to see what he can find out.

"Every time you say yes to something you don’t want to do, this will happen: you will resent people, you will do a bad job, you will have less energy for the things you were doing a good job on, you will make less money, and yet another small percentage of your life will be used up, burned up, a smoke signal to the future saying, “I did it again’.”

I'm feeling this way right now. I recently joined a Board that I'm not interested in anymore. Great cause, high profile people but my heart is not in it. Any tips on exiting this board without burning bridges?

I just got on 2 months ago, and the length of board term is 2 yrs long. I joined the board because there are some VCs and politicians I want to connect with for future business purposes.

Now I rather do other things with my time like focus on international trade opportunities on the African continent and also spend more time with the wifey and kids.

So is the networking not working out with people on the board?

I was on two non-profit boards, you will prob make 1-2 friends max.

People are not as open as you would think.

Can you use the board membership to expand your circle of influence to other groups/sectors?

We haven't even had our first board meeting yet and I want out, but upon further consideration, I think it's just best to ride this out with a good spirit.

How many finished this yet?

How many started this yet?

Do we need to start a bookclub or study group around this?

Finished but i'm a speed reader though

I'm reading Deep Work by Cal Newport now

.

Good lookin out on this book, Kaya! I'd swear I replied to this thread earlier to thank you.

I read it in a few days. I think he started really strong and got a lil hard to follow about halfway thru...it's like some of his points were all over the place, but he brought it home in the last few chapters.

Lotta info I plan on putting in practice...thanks again, brother!

Good looking out! i've listened to James Altucher interviews on the "School of Greatness" and "Art of Manliness" podcasts and have been meaning to read some of his material.

Thank you

deep-work-by-cal-newport-summary-200x300.jpg

Deep Work is about the power of focused work. Written by Cal Newport, a computer science professor at Georgetown University, the book’s key insight is that the ability to do great work requires developing powers of focus and work habits of uninterrupted concentration. Unfortunately, many things get in the way of work. The office environment is filled with interruptions. Rapid communication tools such as instant messaging and email disrupt our concentration. The ubiquitously accessible Internet, which is now an integral part of both work and life, contains an infinite number of distractions. This book provides solutions to these challenges.

In this summary:

Deep Work contains two parts. The introduction and Part I explain the concept of deep work, why it is important, modern trends that detract from deep work, and why it can lead to productive and meaningful work.

  • Introduction. Definition of deep work and shallow work.
  • Chapter 1: Deep Work Is Valuable. Why deep work is valuable in the new economy.
  • Chapter 2: Deep Work Is Rare. 3 trends that prioritize shallow work over deep work; 4 reasons why shallow work persists.
  • Chapter 3: Deep Work Is Meaningful. How pursuing deep work can provide meaning in work and life.
Part II discusses the 4 rules of deep work, and explains strategies to avoid distraction and improve your ability to work deeply.

  • Rule #1: Work Deeply. The 4 approaches to deep work; 5 strategies to assist deep work.
  • Rule #2: Embrace Boredom. Weaning your mind from distraction and strengthening your focus ability.
  • Rule #3: Quit Social Media. How to choose your Internet tools.
  • Rule #4: Drain the Shallows. 6 strategies to reduce shallow work.
  • Conclusion. Pushing the limits of deep work.
