Yeah, I saw her; thats the inspiration for this thread. In the article that I pulled the Wall Street Journal video (above) from, the author alleged that John McCain has refused to attend their family gatherings at the Plantation, though many of the other McCains do. The article appeared shakey, hence, I chose not to continue that allegation, without proof.

Number two, I think it's pretty disgusting for descendants of slaves to be palling around with the descendants of slave owners and that's the only conection they have with one another and the sole driver of the reunion.

I Agree GYH. I had a subscription to Ancestry . com and with a bit of the info given already, I could have run the family pretty good. But, LOL, that was "Had" a subscription. (For those interested in tracing their geneology, I found the program to be quite helpful for the early 1800's forward to the 1930's)

Also, Lev(V)ingham could also have been from another branch (paternal or maternal) of the family, depending on which side devolved the McCains.

I feel your confusion, I am mulato, mixed, half breed, grew up in Europe, first language, is other than my father's native English, never lived around black people, but still, I am Black!

I think it is always news worthy to point out, remind educate or make known the history of the United States. You, the consummate supply side economist surely understand the seed capital this society developed which was used to build the wealth from the blood and sweat of people of African decent that got no profit from these business transactions.

I think it is good that people can recognize their ugly pasts and then come together. This something Germany seems to have done somewhat successfully, from my limited knowledge of the post holocaust Germany. Take ownership of the wrongs and not wallow in them.
