While Apple’s rumored TV streaming service has fallen by the wayside, AT&T has managed to swoop in with a compelling TV streaming service of its own. Dubbed DirecTV Now, the new streaming service from Ma Bell offers users the ability to enjoy 60+ channels (in 1080p resolution when available) for just $35/month. As far as cable packages are concerned, you’ll be hard pressed to find a deal that offers more bang for your buck than what AT&T is bringing to the table. Of course, users willing to pay more can receive as many as 120+ channels.

AT&T earlier this week said that its highly anticipated TV service would go live sometime today, and interested subscribers might be excited to know that the DirecTV Now app is now live on Apple’s App Store for iOS and tvOS.

As we highlighted earlier in the week, the 4 DirecTV Now subscription options are as follows:

  • Live a Little – $35 / month (60+ channels)
  • Just Right – $50 / month (80+ channels)
  • Go Big – $60 / month (100+ channels)
  • Gotta Have it – $70 / month (120+ channels)
Some of the notable channels available as part of the wallet-friendly Live a Littlepackage include: A&E, AMC, Animal Planet, BET, Bravo, CNBC, CNN, Comedy Central, CSPAN, Discovery Channel, Disney, E!, ESPN, Food Network, the History Channel, Lifetime, MTV, Nickelodeon, TBS, TLC, TNT, the USA Network and more.

For anyone on the fence about subscribing, you might be interested to know that AT&T is giving away free Apple TV devices to new subscribers who commit to a three month subscription. Users willing to commit to a one month subscription will receive a free Amazon Fire TV stick. All told, DirecTV Now is arguably the type of TV streaming service Apple should have launched.

Other devices compatible with DirecTV Now include Android smartphones and tablets, iPhones, iPads, Chromecast and Google Cast. Compatible browsers for the PC and Mac crowd include Internet Explorer, Safari and Google Chrome.

As far as usability goes, each subscription allows up to two simultaneous streams, making it a less than ideal solution for large families with multiple TVs. It’s also worth noting that the service does not include any DVR functionality, though that may be coming as an additional feature later on down the line. Lastly, DirecTV Now users have the ability to sign up for HBO for just $5/month.

Got it. It's okay......not all channels are 1080p, not all channels stream live, and it crashes.......it's definitely a wait and see.

I signed up for the 7 day trial about an hour ago... on Android, you only have the option of running the app from your phone or casting to a Cast-enabled device. Doesn't work on Android TV (yet). The app does not work on a rooted phone :smh:. You can install and login but get an Error 30 or 40 when trying to stream

I know it's launch day for the service but I've had several issues logging in and navigating the site during the past hour. Site displays a red banner and says "Looks like something went wrong on our end. Please try again later or visit our Help Center" quite often.

Streams are decent.. has me contemplating dropping expensive ass Comcast

apple think they can go at these big cable companys and tv networks with that fuckery that they sold to the wireless networks, aint gonna work apple

i'll stick wtih dexter and kodi. $12 a month for live tv in hd, ppv events, nba and nfl package and movie channels.

Dexter is still around? I haven't been able to find a way to install it. The 2 sites I found are down and people on the FB page saying they stole their money..

been using it for like 4 months now. It hit a rough patch where it wouldnt work for like 2 days. but i've been able to watch all the ppv events every time one was on. Worth the money IMO.

Why isn't this in the cord cutters thread? Now we are going to end up having a 10 page thread due to Kats coming in here asking about Kodi. It never fails. :smh:

I don't really see how this is better than Sling TV or PlayStation Vue. This only gives you 2 streams at a time while SlingTV Blue gives you 3 (and costs $10 less) and PS Vue gives you 5.

This is a Bullshit list if it's not gonna include HBO & SHOWTIME ..this shit is just like all the other Crook ass networks..cuz most want HBO & SHO and when you add those 2 channels MOST times your bill ends up being over $100:mad: MOST people also want ON DEMAND..for shows like TWD,POWER EMPIRE,SUGAR etc..then when you have these features your between $150-$200 a month..so don't fall for the BS it's all about the same..they force you to take "nobody want's" programing and they stick what you DO want around GARBAGE! If we TRULY could pay for ONLY what we want or WATCH most of us or ALL of us would have a bout 15-20 channels. For ME those would be or just about
1.AMC
2.FOX Sports 1 & 2
3.HBO
5.SHOTIME
6.ESPN1&2
7.BET
8.OWN
9.IFC
10.Discovery
11.STARS
12.SPIKE
13.NBC sports
14.TNT
15.TLC
16.SYFY
17.CNN
18.SCIENCE

20.Investigation Discovery

I will ad that all MUST BE IN HD!

If I really looked HARD maybe I could add 1-3 more...But now the Question is WHOM or WHAT Cable provider is going to allow to only choose 25 or less channels and a bill UNDER $40-50 bucks
 OH yeah the other SCAM is you MUST include a "land Line" when they know good and damn WELL nobody gives a flying Fuck about a land line when MOST use their cell as they everything phone. And I wont even start on the ISP Con game

I got the first 3 tiers ($60 package) for $35, that promo's still available. You can add HBO and Cinemax for $5 each. On-Demand is also included but it doesn't have every show yet (everything just launched yesterday).

I also signed up for a PlayStation Vue trial.. it's much smoother and has a better interface than DTV does. DTV Now has more channels for less money but you do get DVR and more simultaneous streams with PS Vue. Neither of them show local channels in my market.

Yup, it's called Cartoon Crazy. You can save their fav shows to favorites and access them on the main screen.

We damn near had an incident in my house when Vue stopped recording Paw Patrol and Blaze.
