The 25 Most Hyped High School Basketball Recruits Of All Time

I don't think Kobe belongs on this list, especially not so high. Kobe's hype stemmed from him announcing he could enter the draft out of HS. Hype, to me, is Lebron. Like what they said about Kareem. Kenny Anderson. Stephon Marbury was on 60 minutes. Sebastian Telfair. OJ Mayo.

I read Jason Kidd's hype was insane in Cali, or maybe the Bay Area mostly.

Garnett had a lot of hype, too.

Nah, that wasn't him. This dude never made it to the NBA. I think he was Magics home town
Marcus Taylor

Thing is, everybody is naming bums who were hyped. This isn't an over hyped list based on end result, this is just a list of the most hyped players regardless of how their careers turned out...

Kidd wasnt overhype... He was as good as advertised
dumbass, the article is about hyped players. some lived up to it, some didn't. the article is not about overhyped players. reread this sentence as much as you need to.

My dude Dajuan Wagner ..If Dajuan could have stayed healthy Lebron probably wins a Chip in his 1st run in Cleveland.

What's the insults for?
Must you always respond like a lactating babymama... Jesus Christ...

Evolve Nigga!

Don't stay the same bitch youve always been.

There's absolutely no need for the sucker shit.

Greg Oden at 3 behind Kareem an Lebron?

Bullshit. I don't remember Greg Oden hype at all.

Saw him and Kobe in HS in 1995. I was more impressed with Kobe, as I didn't think a HS player could ever be THAT skilled offensively . . . .

....but Tim Thomas's agility and fluidity was freakish for his height. Dude was ridiculously smooth, and could explode on you for a dunk if he wanted to. He had a lot of potential, but like so many before and after him, he didn't have a high enough motor to maximize it.

Damn, thinking about Kobe and Tim in HS is taking me back. Who remembers Shaheen Holloway out of Jersey? Dude jumper was broke, but them handles were cold as fuck.

You can't be serious bro? Greg Oden is right where he needs to be. Who was all over the place, was on national TV a whole lot and was being compared to Bill Russell as a 10th grader. He was definitely much higher than High School. Real rap, He is the reason why Mike Conley made it to the league. Or at least got a chance to play in that League. Nobody knew who Mike Conley was if it wasn't for Greg

You don't ?

Greg Oden had a sports illustrated story about not wanting to hoop and wanting to be a veterinarian.

Lebron's hype was OUT OF THIS WORLD. It was impossible to be a hoops fan and not know about Lebron James in HS.

In the 2000s, the only super-hyped players that I recall were Sebastian, Lebron, and OJ Mayo. If you're talking that hype that transcended region of the country.

I do recall Lenny Cooke hype. But its been over ten years. Maybe my mind diminished his hype 'cause he never made it to the NBA.

OJ's hype was ALMOST as big as Lebron's, tho'.

I do recall the first time I saw OJ Mayo's HS highlights ...

...well, lets just say I'm not surprised he didn't even up being a perennial All-Star. He seemed to lack any special ability that would put him over the top in the NBA.
