A throng of San Francisco cops detained a man with one leg by sitting on his prosthetic limb after they mistook his crutches for weapons, witnesses said.

At least 14 officers helped in the takedown earlier this month, said Chaédria LaBouvier, a journalist who filmed the incident.

The officers held down the man, who appeared to be homeless, for at least 30 minutes, LaBouvier wrote in a Monday post on Medium. He lay on the ground half-naked, his pants slipping off as he struggled with cops, and repeatedly asked, “What are you doing this for?”

LaBouvier said she was on her way to the Medium office to discuss a new project on police brutality when she noticed the cops corner the unidentified man.

Witnesses told her the officers were responding to call about someone waving sticks downtown — the “weapons” turned out to be the man’s crutches, she said.

“These are my crutches. I use these to walk,” the man explains in the video as the cops take them away from him. Then, several officers wrestle him to the ground.

At one point, the video shows an officer kneeling on the man’s prosthetic leg to further retrain him

More cops formed a “blue wall” around the man, LaBouvier reported, apparently an attempt to block witnesses’ views of the incident. At least 14 officers were on the scene, she said.

During the takedown, the man repeatedly told cops he was in pain — and asked
them why they were restraining him.

“That s--t hurts,” he says in the video. “I have a f--king sore, an infection, on my leg.”

He continued: “What the f--k is wrong with you? Is this what you do? Is this respectable? When I say ‘no’, is this what you do to me?”

After 30 minutes on the ground, medics took the man to a hospital against his will, LaBouvier said. The cops did not arrest the man or charge him with any crime, she said.

San Francisco police did not immediately return the Daily News’ request for comment.

Just cuz he uses them for walking doesn't mean he can't use his crutches as a weapon. I fail to see what the issue is here.

The 17 year-old white kid shot this year by a cop wasn't a criminal either. He just flashed his light because he thought the officer was using high beams and he couldn't see. This resulted in him being killed. Maybe if you weren't so ignorant and hate filled you would realize this happens to people off all races. Idiot

You will never see what the problem is. You are blind. This man did nothing. Did they ask him anything NO. They just attacked him because of what someone said. When do you tackle and hand cuff a handicapped man on the ground. This woman is right and you have no clue.

The way he cursed and showed little restraint is why he got pinned down. Were he more polite the police would not have responded the way they did. This is San Francisco people; respect for the police is as bad as Chicago or Baltimore. A sanctuary city run by liberals. Nothing to see here.

Cursing isn't against the law moron. And he wasn't charged with ANY crime. The police obviously messed up but white people gotta stick together.

This kind of thing is happening all over the country, in case you haven't been reading the news. Respect has to be earned. When police can be counted on to act like the professionals they're supposed to be, people will respect them.

Respect for the law isn't against the law either and gets you a lot further with police officers. You should try it sometime.

Oh, he "CAN"? That is your excuse? Fine, next time we see you, we will do the same, as you can use your car keys as a weapon too.

You can feel free to if there are reports and witnesses reporting that I have been using my keys as weapons. And then I resist the officers responding. In that instance feel free to tackle, handcuff and drag me to jail.

Typical white attitude. Why does there need to be justice as long as police treat ME nicely?

According to the Justice Department 84% of white people killed every year are killed by other white people. You can find that in numerous publications. Research, read, learn something...

The issue is why are people treated different, it is not color, it is attitude.

I can actually agree to that Tamara . IT IS THE attitude. I won't assume where you are from - but when you have ''hit records'' like f the police. And fast forward that is STILL the way kids are brought up. The attitude instilled in them. It's not hard to see why so many are mistreated. Ive seen citizens far too many times insult and get hostile with GOOD cops all because of the stigma instilled in them. F the police. Black ppl aren't the ONLY minority. They aren't the ONLY black ppl. (hispanics) Yet they have the MOST issues w the law. It IS the attitude Tamara. I applaud your post!

Obviously there is WAY more to this story that's not being told..

The guy sounded drunk.
He tried to bite one officer,
I clearly watched him kicking the officer with his METAL leg. Hence why they subdued the legs.

So my guess is they got complaints about him hitting or threatening someone with is crutches.

Probably pan handling and didn't get what he wanted..

As you stated, there is more going on. We never saw the beginning. Kicking the officer with a metal leg is "irrelevant' in my opinion. The only thing relevant to me is "why" was he kicking another man. Self Defense?

14 officers, attacking a homeless, cripple. this makes sense to you? in moments like these I look to the founders for wisdom and clarify

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -- Benjamin Franklin.
