Thank You BGOL for Banning the N-Word

You're all a bunch of big-lip, shiny-gum, big-nose, nappy-hair, chocolate-covered, chubby-cheek MONKEYS!!!

Is that any better??? And I didn't even use the "N-Word". How does it feel nigga.
Banning nigga, ******, niggah, ni99a, whatever is an exercise in futility. Fuck what you're saying about it's been transformed into a term of empowerment or endearment...it's the ugliest word in the english language but it's here to stay.
And the whole Don Imus thing...you first have to realize that he never used the word ******. He called a group of innocent, defensless black girls ugly nappy-headed hoes. Just calling them ugly is bad enough, but it's his right to the first amendment. The problem is that he was in a position of power where millions of people heard his voice everyday and he should have been more cautious and responsible with his power. Now he overstepped the boundaries and has no job.
I say to each their own. I agree that the word needs to be used with discression, but of all places (on a porn message board) to try and impose your ethical beliefs on the entire community is ridiculous. If your such an advocate of black empowerment, stop logging in to a predominately black message board that depicts black women sucking dick and getting jizzed on.
I'll continue to use the word...PROUDLY, and use it when and to who ever I so choose. Don't bring that uber-conservative bullshit to BGOL. Go start your own message board and y'all can share y'alls over-sensitive emotions and beliefs with one another there.
Fuckin' Uncle Tom colored-person!

oh, i see, you're one of those people who like to argue when you don't even have a point.

Some how you've gone from almost arguing about the same thing, to supporting my argument, to spouting some horribly moot and inaccurate observations on the nature of language. I am going to assume that your attempt to connect the unrelated points in your replies stems from some sort of ADD/ADHD problem you're working thru.

I wish you the best of luck with that.

In addition, please understand that language itself is adaptive. Meaning that words find their meaning in the way that they are used. "Historical context" as you use it, is merely a reference to the most common or longest running interpretation. The greater part of the English language is an amalgam of words and terms taken from other languages. Most of these words have little or no resemblance in meaning to the word of their origin.

Case in point:

bitch (in origin)= female of the canine species

bitch (circa 1400 AD)=a derogatory term for a woman, taken to mean that she is malicious, spiteful, domineering, intrusive, or unpleasant.

bitch (1800-1900)= bitch is a lower-hierarchy prisoner, typically physically weak or vulnerable, who is dominated by more senior prisoners and forced to adopt a servile role. According to convention, these inmates are used as sexual slaves or traded as personal property.

bitch (2007)= see ill paragraph

oh, shit... you were right. Even though the definition has been altered , ( only dog breeders refer to dogs as bitches anymore), proving my point, i guess the root meaning of the word still remains.

Well, never let it be said that I can't admit when I'm wrong.
Thanks for straightening me out, bitch.

You're really reaching now.

No one is arguing that the definition of a term can't gradually change over time. We (well, I) was talking about racist code words that are employed by those who seek to establish/maintain dominance over a segment of the population. Initially, you argued that 1) No one should be policing Don Imus' usage of the word "nappy-headed" and 2) the women of the Rutgers basketball team are, indeed, "nappy-headed hos." My argument was/is that 1) only an Uncle Tom (read:YOU) or a self-righteous white liberal (read: possibly you) would take these positions.

Of course, I don't blame you for focusing on argumentative minuitae or running interference to try to cover up the fact that you're a house Negro/clueless white boy/effeminate member of a minority group. What choice do you have?
