Tesla Model 3 Revealed

hey...no fair. insane mode is only activated up to 30mph on the P85D on the P90D it goes beyond 60mph, not sure if that would have changed the outcome, at some point the energy management system would retard the power.

It's meant to be a performance car. Why is the system retarding stuff when it's supposed to be the Ferrari killer as some of these dudes are saying? Can't it stand the heat?

Oh, i see , we now have to buy the top of the line electric car to get the best performance.

I think what is being overlooked is how much better these cars will be second and third and 20 years from now. I think its a good start. Its actually good enough for me cause I drive like an old man and wont be racing lol

If you motherfuckers don't stop moving the goal posts!

Every one of the cars in these videos is quicker and faster than an m3/m5/m6 m/everything bmw.

Next, the GTR raced a Tesla that was not a P or performance car as it took almost 13 seconds for the 1/4.

The fact that the Ferrari didn't catch up to the Tesla until 13 seconds had elapsed means that the Tesla won in the 0-60, 0-100 and the quarter mile.

In regards to the Dodge, I didn't see the times.

However, the P90D is now out. The P100D should be out this month.

BMWs only get half a bar...

For the humans, back to the drawing board.

That bitch got walked down :itsawrap:

How you going to get your lunch jacked, but you all electric though:smh:

Nice data, the sudden drop in g force was probably due to the mode that gives high amount of power to the motor disabling after 30mph in the P85D. They should have did a head to head comparison

oh wait...

maybe since it's an unfair advantage the new standard should be 2 miles instead of quarter mile. We can go back and forth all day, the P90D losing to higher end performance cars. there are 1500hp (1,119kW) single electric motors available and in a dual setup with a larger battery pack, it would kill. but then again so would a jet propulsion engine

Gas is so cheap right now
The question I have is, how much money are you spending towards your electric bill to charge it every week ???
Where are the numbers on that
If it costs just as much (if not more than a tank of gas), to charge it up every week...then how much are you really saving ???

:hmm::hmm::hmm:

fuck the planet, right? :hmm:

It looks like the porsche panamera from the body .

All the people on the waiting list and standing outside are gonna be the first too complain and use the car for youtube video's

Finally, the Ferrari is a proper sports car, Lamborghinis, Porsches, etc. Not BMW. The fact that you guys are pitting Teslas (7 seater family movers) against the fastest, quickest SPORTS cars in the world is telling.

Resistance is futile.
This ain't about BMW though.

Naw this car is very expensive for the 30k range because of maintenance or accidents. Also the performance is no where near a BMW, Lexus, or Benz.

These cars don't have the speed and power of a gas engine

I drove one for awhile. Was not mind as it was to pricey for me but had it a month or so.

While the Tesla is quick it has no power. I better way to say it is the Tesla is quick but not fast. You get a quick launch and after that the power is pretty much gone.

For sports enthusiasts that can be problematic. At 40 mph the Tesla can't accelerate like a BMW, Charger hellcat or other sports sadans. So people who want a sports car will probably opt for a gas model. A quick start is cool but unless your are drag racing it is not practical plus you really do a number on your battery.

Electric cars can generate 100% of their torque immediately. Whereas, an internal combustion motor needs to build that torque through the rev range. So, yes...the high performance Model 3 will beat an M3 off the line but as speeds increase....the M3 will reel it in and pass it by.

Start that same race from around 60 - 70 mph and it's curtains for the Tesla.

I drive a 2010 Chevy Malibu for my around the town work vehicle
It has a 16 gal gas tank, and I get about 25 miles per gallon, and can go 400+ on a full tank
Newer cars will getter better gas mileage (30+ mpg)
The price & size of the Tesla seems to be aimed at the BMW 3 series market
So since the Tesla 3 is rated at 215 per full charge, thats the equivalent of a half tank of gas
Half a tank of gas for a 3 series bmw, will probably run you about $12, and get you about 200+ miles
Sooo not saving a whole lot, but yea I get the point

By the way, according to Caranddriver.com, with both cars in top gear, the Tesla does 30-50 in 1.3 seconds and 50-70 in 1.8 seconds. The M6 took 5.6 and 7.3 seconds...

The standing quarter mile in 11.1 seconds at 121 mph, the M6 12.4 at 124 mph.

2015 M3 1/4 in 12.3 at 116 mph. 30-50 and 50-70 6.3 and 4.9 seconds. The Tesla is still pulling away from the BMW M3 at the quarter mile.

BMW fanboys are the worst. A BMW isn't even a proper sports car. It's a sedan that goes fast.

I'm just speaking to how the cars perform but I'm sure you already knew that. Or at least I hope so....

Again, this is the same situation as I explained in my previous post. If the M6 is in top gear, it can't generate comparable torque! Whereas, the Tesla can due to electric motors. Put the M6 in 2nd and 3rd gear and then see the results. Completely different results.

Regardless, I like what Teslsa is doing and not taking anything away from the cars. Just putting some perspective on these numbers.

I knew the difference in cars within my argument when I posted it (the life of a lawyer); however, are you suggesting that the M6 or M3 would be quicker in 2nd or 3rd gear than the Tesla numbers I posted? I would have to find some documentation.

30-50 in under 1 second? Not likely.

I found a website that said 1.8 seconds for the M3 in 2nd gear. Keep trying though.

No.

What I am suggesting is that comparing an M6 in its top gear and then comparing it's acceleration numbers to the Tesla isn't an apples to apples comparison due to it's completely different drive trains. You have to put an internal combustion motor in the correct corresponding gear to make a true and accurate comparison.

This car beats a comparably-priced bmw or mercedez on pretty much every measurable metric.

The bmw 335i has been americas best selling premium vehicle almost since it came out i think.
This car is taking that crown in it's first year easily...

this little tesla is gonna be everywhere like altimas & accords used to be...

and think about all the people who wanted the model s but were priced out of the high performance model so sat out? The high end model for this one will probably top out at $55k and give cats that performance they wanted in the Model S.

i think it's game over... and thats a good thing cuz its time we get off that oil.

The charging of the battery and performace of the car is still an issue. Handling turns and accelerating out of them are unmatched by a BMW.

Also the weight time on charging a car is problematic.

Tesla vs M5 back in 2012 BEFORE the Tesla performance editions came out. Y'all were losing back then.

This ain't about BMW though.

Word? You concede?

Muthafuckas like.. "it can't beat a Formula 1 with Hamilton driving it!"

Man.... I am definitely going to peep this when it comes out. Price is right and specs great for me. I am not trying to race around like a kid and I am trying to outfit my life to be more energy efficient. I am gonna hold onto my rod for a couple of years until this comes out and maybe wait for the second one depending if they make them yearly.

when you hit their site they ad in things like the value of the time you save (your hourly * fill up time per month, you also have to factor in what you save on oil changes and other normaly maintenance to get the real feel of the savings I know one thing they gloss over is the cost of wheels and tires... there is a internet blog where a guy quoted 1600 to replace tires I think and I'm like WTF! but think about it if you get heavier wheels ... less mileage, same on tires so im sure they have you in some top notch shit out the gate... and you wont have may options out of it.. with that said as soon as the model X comes down its on my radar @ 85-95k. i dont see a 6'4" guy in this joint, maybe the wife but not me

Tell these boys. Let's not forget we talking about a couple hundred thousand difference.

fuck the planet, right? :hmm:
supposedly mining for lithium and the other materials that comprise of a lithium-ion battery isn't that environmentally
Reserved my Model 3 today

Deposit is refundable and there's plenty of time before truly committing, so, we'll see what I decide

Did they let you pick the options i.e. the base version or with the duel motors, different battery offerings or is that for a later time?

It aint about just gas being cheap.
It is about:
environment
making arab terriorists rich

 yo.. The Telsa won if you have to match it up against fucking supercars..
In terms of 0-60 , any electric car has the torque to do it, so we have to pit it against powerful gas engines cars. In terms of top end, hell, the base corvette will kill it. Shit , a Nissan Sentra will ultimately get it after 250 miles while it's waiting on a charge. In terms of interior quality, a damn Lexus is250 got it beat.

I'm not saying it's a bad car, just pointing out what I don't like about it and some of its limitations. In fact, I'd buy their roof of the line for $50k today if they'd discount it that much.
I don't pay much money for a quartz watch over a Rolex and I refuse to do so with cars.

yea when a family sedan and minivan are being matched up against supercars it's time to just admit that this might be the most revolutionary shit thats happened to the auto industry since the model t. straight up...

that bothers alot of cats for some reason. i guess knowing that pretty soon there's gonna be soccer mom that can smoke your expensive sports car/sedan off the line just to show her kids a good time might be a little humbling...

a 10 yr old american kid today probably will never know what it's like to buy gasoline. at least that's what i hope/ think...

Lol, until that time comes, we will be driving our gasoline powered cars with a smile. Please understand that no one is saying you should not buy the tesla. Some of us are just not interested at this time and at this price.

i feel ya. i'm just trying to understand the strong reaction to it. its not just on bgol...

dude at my barbershop was pissed off debating against the tesla. he drives a nice cls 63 so my thinking (and i could be wrong) is that some cats are a little salty that these "toys" are gonna put performance that was once only reserved for hardcore cars into family vehicles that will mostly not be driven by car enthusiasts...

could there be there any truth to this if you dig down deep into your soul for answers good brother?

this gotta be how white people feel. they are going the way of the dinosaur...
