Teedra Moses Tiny Desk Concert

A few days later, Moses caught wind of the comment and decided to choose violence as a respond. In a snappy post, Moses responded to the user, stating, “F**k u u ugly bi**h and I ain’t blocking you cuz I got time in the new yr to bless u with these words!!! You don’t know me! But those that do know what I’m about. Go play with ya support dog bi**h don’t play with me! Coming on this app w dat bullsh*t. I will slap piss from u!!”

How the fuxk would dip it low generate 5 million dollars

He asked if there was another song that was close..... so that word close is relative. She may think $2.5 mil is close to $5 mil if all her other songs only made a few hundred thousand.....

But Dip It Lo was a dance floor anthem for a summer or 2.

It was released March 2004 and certified Gold in Jan 2005 which is odd, because that summer it was in heavy rotation. Also that's CM's only certification...... I feel like Def Jam could petition for recertification and if it was platinum or even 2X or 3X, I wouldn't be surprised.

Nonetheless the song has been used in various advertisements since 2005 so it's generating money that way.

Gold single = at least $1 million (500,000 units X $1.99 for a single in 2004) + 20 years of brand ads, movie/ tv deals, "Now Thats...." and other compilation albums....

I'd estimate that would bring in at least $2.5 million ..... but I could be wrong

Even with all of that, that money has to be split so many ways, how does she alone make “close to” 5 Mill off that one song?
I think these entertainers wildly over exaggerate shit

Sold 500k in us
Sold 400k in uk
Paid out over a million dollars in losing lawsuit for not clearing samples

Again she said she made $5 mill off of "one of her songs." For her songs she said that she gets 200% of the pot = 100% writing/artist side + 100% publishing and distribution side. (No label no middlemen)

She said specifically that her "sister" learned how to admin publishing so she's not paying a company to do so nor is there a company that owns the rights and pays her a small percentage.

Her songs have been used in numerous ads, movies....etc. And she's getting most of that pot. That's how you get to $5 mil over 20 years.....

Touré asked if there was "another song that (was) close to" (generating that amount) and she said "Dip it Low" she never said DiL was THE $5 mil song. Hence my previous explanation.

So yeah, for that song, some of the pot is going through Teedra, Def Jam, the sample producer and then finally CM gets a cut. Definitely not $5 mil for Teedra Moses, but I can see how it could be relatively "close" if all her other songs only generate tens or a couple hundred thousands of dollars.

Look at a song like Trap Queen from Fetty Wap ... the song was released in 2015, by 2019 it was Diamond..... it still gets played today.....

So why was Fetty broke by 2021? He had a competed album but didn't understand the game. 300 took an album they did no work for and took at least 20% off the top of everything. And then they own the publishing.....this dude generated at least $30 mil off one song.... not including the brand deals, performance money.....

That's what I left off the TM thing there's performance money too....

But Fetty was in a 360..... he got percentages of everything. No stake or ownership..... TM owns her shit.

I heard all of that…
Watch it again, she did say the song was dip it low

Fetty himself said how he went broke
He had 20 cars and 6 apartments and several baby mammas plus his crew all on his payroll.

And thats in a streaming era
Also i hope ur not comparing dip it low to trap queen
Trap queen is almost at 1 billion views on youtube

It's crazy how They dissed Lyfe Jennings talking about he didn't have enough hits when his first album is a classic. But they had Duran on there and he doesn't even have an album out, just songs and some youtube stuff.

It's all good.....
You talking about Bernar Durand? Mans is way more talented that lyfe Jennings lmaoo

I'm not taking anything away from Durand but Lyfe Jennings should be able to perform on tiny desk.

I've been a fan of Treedra and I'm happy to see her performing because r&b isn't dead, white people aren't the face of it nor the back bone and people do appreciate when they tour in local cities and do the chitlin circuit(D'angelo).

Ok, I stand corrected. And she did say that the $5 Mil was before the lawsuit.

So again the writing and publishing is big, but also that song is certified "gold" like "Pump It Up" was certified Gold until 2024. And even then Joe said "Pump" was probably 3X if not more.

Dip it Low, I estimate is in the 2 or 3X platinum range. Add to that that it was in movies, tv shows and ads.

Now you got me doing math, haha!
But let's just say conservatively 2X platinum = $4 mil.... then add advertisements, movies and comp albums over 20 years.... I can see an additional $1 mil+ for the total to equal $5 mil.

Now for her personally to get $5 mil, that song would have to be at least 3X platinum. That's $6 mil, plus album points, ads, movies....etc for a total of $7.5 - 9 mil, yeah Teedra would get close to $5 mil of that.

But the actual figure is probably in the lawsuit paperwork that was filed for ole boy to get $1 or $1.5 mil...... but I don't have time or the energy to look into that.

The big unknown is the actual sales numbers. RIAA certification is for the artist, writers and producers..... the label can have an intern fill out the paperwork. But the label accountants have to send those checks (writing/ producing/ publishing) or face potential lawsuits.

Maybe @woodchuck insight to this
