Tech Help: Need Help Installing Zune, getting error [Porn Inside]

Shit, now my new 1TB my book doesn't work either. Fuck. It's asking "If this came with an installation CD" this didn't come with an installation CD. HELP! Fuck the Zune, my 1TB ain't being recognized by my XP.


This is the error I am getting:

Cannot Start this hardware

There is a problem installing this hardware

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

Click finisk to start a troubleshooter that can help resolve the problem.

(then it sends me back to the Hardware Update Wizard)

Can windows update connect to windows to search for software?

This time only
Yes, now and every time I connect this device
No, not this time

(if I check not this time the computer never recognizes it again)

This not only happens with the Zune, but with a brand new 8GB thumbdrive.

SYMPTOMS
When you connect a Zune device to a Windows XP-based computer, you receive the following error message:
Cannot Install this Hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware:

Zune

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

CAUSE
This problem may occur if the User-mode Driver Framework (UMDF) from the Windows Driver Foundation (WDF) is not installed or started correctly. This new driver model is built into Windows Vista and is installed through the Windows Media Format package for Windows XP.

THINGS TO TRY
Make sure that the Windows Driver Foundation User-mode Driver Framework is installed: 1. Download the Windows Media Format 11 runtime.a. Visit the following Web site:
catalog.update.microsoft.com
b. Click to install the Microsoft Update Catalog ActiveX control, if you are prompted to do this.
c. In the Search box, type Zune, and then click Search.
d. Next to Windows Media Format 11 runtime, click Add.
e. In the upper-right corner of the page, click view basket.
f. Click Download.
g. Click Browse, select a folder to save the download to, and then click OK.
h. Click Continue.
i. When the download is finished, click Close.

2. Open the folder to which you downloaded the Windows Media Format 11 runtime, and then open the file X86-all-wmfdist11-windowsxp-x86-enu.
3. Click Yes to run Windows Media Format 11 Setup.
4. When you are prompted to approve the license agreement, click Yes.
5. After the initial file extraction occurs, there is no progress indicator. But several minutes later, you will receive the following message:
Windows Media Format 11 Runtime Setup has finished
Click OK to complete Setup.

I had that same issue a while back.. i was using my thinkpad tablet (Win Xp 2005 (tablet edition))- I was running into the same error msgs

Did everything updated Zune software, firmware, reformatted Zune to no avail.

Worked perfect on my regular Win Xp (desktop)

NO new firewall. I have Zonealarm & superantispyware, but that is it. I alsso ran into the same problem with a friend's brand new 8gb thumbdrive. The 1TV I have is new, I can't have a new hard drive not recognized by my laptop.
