In May of 2016, Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave was injured in a shooting at Irving Plaza that left his bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter dead. No arrests were made in the following months, but on Monday (Jan. 16), podcast personality Taxstone was apprehended by police and arrested in Brooklyn in relation to the shooting.

NBC reports that U.S. Marshals New York and New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Taxstone, born Darryl Campbell, in Brooklyn this morning. Sources tell NBC he was wanted for a federal warrant that charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm, but he was also being sought by the NYPD in connection to the Irving Plaza shooting.

The shooting occurred in a green room on the third floor of the venue where a fistfight broke out and escalated to gunfire. Footage from inside the green room emerged soon after the news broke, and the shooter was said to be captured on surveillance footage, but no arrest have been made until now.

Following the shooting, Troy Ave was arraigned on charges including attempted murder after footage showed him shooting back at somebody in Irving Plaza. He and his lawyers have since maintained his innocence, claiming self defense. They have also filed a lawsuit against Irving Plaza and Live Nation for lax security.

Everybody always knew he had something to do with it. But I always wondered why you could never get anybody to mention his name on these blogs or social media in connection to it. Well barely.
Like this nigga really some kind of super goon or something. All that shit talking catches up. But I did like the nigga.

dummy - you left town, why come back?
esp when you know the hiphop cops are on you and the dt-s are still investigating?
NY DA and NYPD are not ever going to allow high profile murder in midtown go
you were on camera - the DA said they aren't charging Troy Ave with the body a long time ago - so, you knew that means you are suspect #1, but you still stay in NYC, still kept a high profile in NYC...

that's why that movie is a classic on the low low in my eyes.. 3 diff characters who handle not so legal bizzness 3 diff ways.. i kno many people who fall into those 3 characters.. mostly mitch and rico though..the loud characters that end up taking the downfall.. very few people understand being ace the low profile mastermind is really the way to go

What difference would it make if he stayed out of NY when it was the Marshall Service that captured him?

1. marshall service would not be involved in this...

2. low profile or away from NYC keeps the hiphop police off radar
also -out of sight keeps the streets quiet, limits gossip convo hard feelings jealousy hate for dt-s to mine...
also in a case like this - if you are out of state it raises the standard of evidence the DA will want for an arrest warrant because the DA has to be prepared to possibly fight for extradition

Fight extradition:confused: From Cali?
Like I said...the Federal Marshall Service captured him. So it doesn't matter if he's in NY or LA. They would have still have captured him and brought him back to NY.

he hasn't been convicted - he would not yet be a fugitive -
so if he was in Cali they would arrest him but he has the ability to fight the arrest as unlawful in California according to Cali laws and request an extradition hearing... forcing the NYDA to go to Cali and present the reasons for the arrest warrant

most times the DAs arrest and charge before they really have a case

You think that would have been hard for them to do?

These are two different matters. One is federal charges and the other is state charges.
He was captured by the Feds.
