Most rappers or musicians period cannot act. They have a big musical following so their name might help sell a few more movie tickets sometimes. There are a handful that truly have versatile talents.

Will Smith, Brandy, Ice Cube and Queen Latifah are a few that come to mind that have versatile talents and abilities in other fields besides music. T.I. just has a big name and was hot at the time those movies came out. Black actors have been complaining about rappers taking movie roles for awhile now.

- because no self respecting filmmaker would bog his movie down w/non-actors. period.

but hollywood is a business, and they know that in order to sell a black movie, you have to put rappers and comedians in these roles.

and truthfully, there are only about 4 singers/rappers that can legitimately ACT

*Dwight Yokum
*Will Smith
*Bjork
*Mos Def

but seriously...how do black folks see this bullshit and not KNOW they are pandering to us

he's done a little too much damage to be a will smith. he has to do some indy films and some other work and just say forget rap and focus on acting in order to be considered serious.

He's starting to see that this rap thing isn't forever and it might be time for him to exit gracefully.

What he needs to do is put Young Dro out and stop holding that cat back.

He is far from being Will Smith, once you saw Fresh Prince of Bel air you knew Will had talent, I have seen T.I. movies and he has a long way too go.

Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. This thread pretty sums up the state of black men. Look at how many negative responses towards this man wanting to pursue a dream of his. :lol::smh: If there is a lesson to be learn from this thread, the lesson is don't surround yourself with brothas telling you what you CAN'T do in life. I noticed the more I started disassociating myself with brothas who speak negative all the time, the more I started progressing in life. Let this thread be a stepping stone for some of you.
