Sylvester Franklin thought he scored a deal when he ordered a drill set online—but instead of tools, he received a printed photo of the product. In a separate purchase, he paid $22.47 for a pressure washer and got a single screw. Both orders came from AliExpress, and despite reaching out since November, Franklin says he still hasn’t been refunded.
The listings appeared to show full toolkits, complete with accessories, making the deliveries all the more frustrating. Franklin’s experience highlights the risks of misleading online product pages—and the need for stronger buyer protections on global e-commerce platforms.
