Troy Ave explains his rationale behind badmouthing the deceased Pro Era emcee to Sway.

Brooklyn emcee Troy Ave didn’t take too kindly to Joey Bada$$’ line in “Ready” that threw shade at his record sales, and he responded with a vicious diss track last night titled “Bad Ass.” It’s a pretty solid diss record, but Troy Ave has caught a ton of flack within the media for one line in particular: “STEEZ burning in Hell, my burner’s in my belt / I’m really killing shit, you niggas killing yourself / Fucking weirdos, off the roof, “Steer clear yo!”

The line leverages deceased Pro Era member Capital Steez, who committed suicide in late 2012. Troy Ave called into Sway in the Morning to discuss the diss track, and unapologetically stood behind every line in the song.

“He opened Pandora’s Box by bringing his other boy Kirk Knight into this,” Troy Ave elaborated about why he targeted people outside of just Joey Bada$$ himself. Sway didn’t have to work very hard to get Troy Ave talking about the Capital STEEZ line.

As soon as Sway brought it up, he could hardly get a word in while Troy Ave declared, "He didn’t pass away. He killed himself. There’s a difference. God gave you life, it ain’t your right to take that. That’s a fact. I got niggas in jail who got life sentences, they might as well be dead. They could’ve traded their life for his…your friends speak to your character.” He goes on to call Capital STEEZ a “bozo” and a “d*ckhead." Very strong words for someone who claims to be guided strongly by his faith.

Yikes. We don’t need to start putting training wheels on rap beefs, but the line definitely leaves a bad taste. Listen to the whole interview below.

I can't co-sign Troy in this.

Can't do it.

I understand what he saying he WRONG but I understand

but he BETTER be able to back all this up...

cause this is FAR from over.

And he need to understand something Brooklyn is actually a small place in terms of music and stuff.

And I'm praying no innocents get caught in between cause they home bases have A LOT of schools and little kids around.

We gonna need an OG to come in here and put this boys in a corner.

In battle rap, you diss the person and make fun of them...in hopes they could battle back. This is like laughing at someone's mom that died of cancer.

I just don't understand going at a dead man.

You aint dissing Joey at that point...you dissing his family.

the ONE line about Joey's crew killing themselves was MORE than enough.

and if he had just made that the last line and ended the track

he would have made his point.

Still foul but I think I could maybe have accepted it and just wait on a response.

in a way i can see Troy's rationale.

if you disrespect me, you don't get to tell me how much i can disrespect you back. if you push me, i might not want to push you back, i might want to hook off on your jaw. the easy way to prevent me from hooking off on your jaw is to not push me in the first place.

furthermore let's be honest. if Troy Ave made a standard, run of the mill dis track are we talking about it today?

the fact that he took it where he took it is why this situation has any interest.

once upon a time Jay-Z was talking about leaving condoms in Nas' babyseat. this level of disrespect isn't unprecedented

very good point

I actually brought that specific line up...interestingly even Jay Z's mother told him he went too far with that particular line.

Like I said I fully understand Troy's point of view, I do.

However he went EXTRA heavy on a dead man...his opponent is RIGHT THERE, facing him in the ring

why did need to jump out the ring go run in the stands and punch Joey's cousin?

Of course he said for publicity it and actually it was a smart move.

But he went EXTRA...too much.

Lawd, if Troy EVER put THAT much thought and passion into one of his songs he would actually be able to sell a few copies.

But understand Joey may not be a thug or a goon but he runs with them, and you need just ONE.

I hope this ends quickly and nobody innocent gets hurt.

scariest thing about all this?

In a year of beef with Drake Meek Wale and 50...

the hardest line was from Troy Ave at Joey BadA$$

who dissed her?

besides Star and Buck and that don't count.

WinTentireF???

I completely FORGOT about that...

wonder if Dame Jay Timbo and Missy have too?

I stand corrected...well there you go.

Its all fair in love and war, and I think Troy will have hip hop historians opening up a TON of old wounds in the process....

i actually don't have a problem with it as long as he know he crossed a line and is ready for whatever comes next, i actually like disrespectful shit in battle rap, it shows the level of the beef but in this case i think troy ave is a wwe nigga

This line is actually a fake. Styles P and some other DJ's admitted it. The other Jada diss isn't one directed at Aaliyah so I wouldn't put it on the same level of disrespect as Troy.

OK good...

wait I actually think I made a thread on that...

elaborate ? i never heard it, when you say it's fake you mean there's no actual recording of it??

unfortunately they the WORST

cause they gonna put a battery in a real nigga back and then the REAL goes down.

Talking about banging someone's girl is one thing...it's I'm so fly I can steal your girl away from you. Putting a friend's suicide in a song as a punchline diss is just lame.

No worst then what Cam did, I can agree with Troy if you start beef with someone you can't dictate how they react. If you punch someone in the face for no reason and they stab or shoot you, yes they're wrong but you are too for starting the bullshit.

peace
I remember this was a big rumor back in the day but it got cleared up. Apparently, some people made a fake record sounding like Styles, trying to be idiots (remember the fake Eminem back in the day that used to put out diss records? Same thing). I also found this: http://nahright.com/2014/04/16/styles-p-addressed-the-alleged-aaliyah-diss/
For the upteenth time, SP make it clear in that Taxstone interview that he ain't say this but knows who did plus tell person who did say it tweeted it themselves recently.

In this interview Troy Ave has revealed himself to be an uneducated, out of touch, ignorant young man who is trapped
in a fucked up so called street mentality. He's seriously depressed about the terrible lacklustre sales of his album and he has clearly never got over that. A very, sad and lost young man. He needs and will eventually get an intervention and regret this event.

He is going to get ran up on by some weirdo niggas that he keeps going at.

Weirdo niggas shoot and stab people too Troy.

What did cam do?
