Side note ... it was good to see him get some shine back in the day in 2000 on the UP IN SMOKE tour. Plenty of big names on that tour drawing ample attention - Dre, Snoop, Eminem, Xzibit, Truth Hurts, TQ, and more ... imagine how much attention & shine Devin (and the tour on the whole) would have had if Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram were all in place at that time. People had to wait to buy the VHS or DVD concert tape later that year. That was a fun live show. Went to the mid-August tourdate in the city ... got floor seats - 3rd row - only cost us just over $30 per ticket. Went down to the stadium the day the tickets went on sale and there were plenty of people lined up to get tix at the Ticketmaster/event window outside. The staffing there recognized there were plenty of scalpers in line, so to make things fair and reshuffle the deck of people lined up ... they had a pick a number from a hat system that reset the line-up. The REAL hiphop heads were happy ... and the scalpers who didn't know anything about the music or artists involved were pissed. We were near the back of the line-up and got shuffled to near the front. The people that were a handful of people behind us asked if we could buy their tickets for them. We picked up their 6 tickets for them, and they paid us extra to do so. Hell ... floor seats for just over $30. Lucked out.

Youtube got rolling in 2005. Twitter around 2006. Instagram around late-2010.

I’ve been bumpin Devin since my big bro let me borrow his CD and I put on “See What I can Pull.” My favorite Devin songs are “Breezy Again” and “Just Tryin to Live” both the chopped/screwed version and the original.

One of my favorite artists. Some cats like 40 water, Andre 3000, Devin, Scarface don’t really talk about Rolls Royce’s or flashy shit. Just real everyday shit. Not everybody is Sosa, fucking and driving foreign. Shit Dubie Ashtray and Lacville 79 basically describes those first few years of college after the refund check ran out lol

Props op
Man first album i heard of his was "waiting to inhale" back in 07..i loved that shit ..and actually got mad that was the first time i listened to him. "she want that money","she useta be" "almighty dollar" "somebody elses wife", "what a job",etc.

I went back and listened to all of his older shit ASAP...son is talented and criminally underrated.
That summer my uncle let me borrow his 07 cadillac DTS...i was bumping nothing but that smooth midwest, south and west coast pimp shit while driving it..old twista, do or die, speedknot mobstaz, devin, dru down, ugk etc

Only joint I’ve heard is “ in the bathroom boobooing”. Not much of a fan, I’ll give a second listen.

Been a fan since the odd squad cameo on the Geto Boys "Bring it on". Finally found a way to work him into one of my commercial mixtapes

He's always put out good solid material I think being from TX is one of the reasons he never got that exposer.....but he's tx best kept secret.

He doesn't make mainstream type singles, he's just not that kind of rapper.

He has his niche and he has always stuck to that.

I think the only song he had that might have had any mainstream appeal might've been "What a Job" with Snoop and Andre 3000.
