Those are pure population numbers (they obviously have a higher population), blunt is right....
You should just be looking a percentages in that link... Blacks have lower rates in general but black men do have a higher suicide rate than white women

I think the one thimg people are missing. Nationwide, their are waaaaay more white people in the US than black. Per Capita, the numbers seem to even out

It may illustrate black hardiness and adaptability but our problems manifest in other areas such as high rates of hypertension, diabetes, and other diseases/illnesses compared to other ethnic groups in the U.S.
We may not succumb to suicide like whites but our bodies pay for the higher incidence of stress non the less.
When you factor in the poverty rates of many blacks along with institutionalized racism and a recent history of subjugation, perhaps our bodies have found a way to adapt to stress differently compared to other ethnic groups.
So what, I will start caring more when black people stop killing each other....

Now your question concerning what "burden/s" are causing whites to kill themselves more readily is a unique question in itself. I'm sure many of us may have theories but a longitudinal study on the matter would be a very interesting read.
Suicide is nothing to laugh at. The higher suicide rates amongst white men has nothing to do with weakness and if you were to look at some cultures through history, suicide ws looked as an honorable thing to do when one has lost face.
It is just as absurd to denigrate Black people because of the high homicide rates especially amongst the youth. Both are travesties.

Whites hypothesize on our abnormal stats all the time through academia, media, and the entertainment industry but we have to associate their abnormal stats with "honor"?
I just dont get that.
Japan is the only other culture many are familiar with in that regard to ritualistic suicide (seppuku) being looked upon as honorable when you have infinitely failed at a task.
Europe on the other hand was so gripped by the church from the Dark Ages up to around the Age of Enlightenment that suicide was viewed as one of the worst of sins and a unthinkable act.
That is partly why these numbers somewhat surprise me given the social engineering brought on by religion that deeply impacted Europe.
