Street Fighter IV Flashback was a concept created by Backbone Entertainment in 2006, to try to pitch a full project at Capcom. It’s not that strange that Backbone proposed something like this, as they are in good relationship with Capcom: they developed various games published by Capcom, like 1942: Joint Strike, Wolf of the Battlefield and the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Also, keep in mind that this concept is not related to the real Street Fighter 4, which development started only much later.

Sf4: Flashback was meant to be a 3D sequel to the Street Fighter series, with the classic 1 vs 1 fights, online play and a full single player adventure mode, know as “Ryu’s Journey”. Ryu’s Journey was supposed to be a free-roaming 3D action game, in the vein of Ninja Gaiden or Onimusha, with levels to explore, lots of enemies to fight, NPC to talk to and final bosses.

Ono-San is at it again! In a recent the producer of Street Fighter IV, reveals that they have a pre 3d model for T-Hawk ready and even knew how he will play in SF4 he also mention that they had early work started on Dee Jay before. Yet he does not say why they are not included in the game. Ono san also hints that they might do a sequel to sfIV like an SFIV Dash (championship edition in US) if fans wnat to.

Here is a bit from the interview translated by Adriasang:"The magazine asked Ono about the possibility of the two missing fighters following their Super compatriots Cammy and Fei Long and being updated to full 3D form. Ono's response, surprisingly, was that they already have undergone the conversion! The characters have already been developed into to pre-texturing 3D models. For T.Hawk, the developers even went so far as to come up with plans for how the character would fight in SFIV.
Ono didn't specify why the two didn't make the final cut, but all is not lost. Said Ono: "If there's demand from users, we're ready to revive them at any point. "

I don't think no one cares about dj and thawk. We already got cammy and feilong. Those 2 are the ones that mattered. Forget dj and t-hawk and give me my sf3 chars back. I know this games takes place befroe sf3 so if sf3 chars are out of the question more alpha chars like karin and guy are still more valuable then djay and t-hawk(actually i wouldn't mind djay. But for the love of god keep t-hawk's ass out of this)

The twins Yun and Yang could be in this game though. Even though they were in SFIII, they were also in SFAIII and are also in Chun Li's SFIV intro video. Rolento would be nice too, but I'd like to see Geki from SFI. I'm pissed they never did anything else with that character except have him in one of Ken's SFAIII background stages.

somebody says something about vega being a ninja after they beat him( i forget who) maybe that's why they never used geki again. I would like to see yun and yang in this one too
 
As far as I'm concerned, they can throw as many characters as they want to into the mix as long as they do them right.

Although with the way T. Hawk used to wreck my game back in the day, I could live without seeing him. Too many bad memories... :D

When the original Street Fighter II was being localized for the English language market, the developers rotated the name of three of the Four Devas (the final four CPU-controlled opponents in the game), fearing that the character who originally bore the name M. Bison, an American boxer conceived as a pastiche of real-life boxer Mike Tyson, was a legal liability for Capcom. Thus, the American boxer known as Balrog in the west is actually M. Bison in Japan, while the Spanish Ninjutsu master Vega is named Balrog, and the military commander M. Bison is named Vega. The fact that Capcom's US marketing staff felt that "Vega" was a non-threatening name for the final opponent also contributed to the name change.

So Capcom thought that "Mike Bison" sounded more threatening?!:lol: But I know that was all they could do. They could only switch around 3 names, since Sagat had to stay the same because he was in the first one. They should have just made up another one.

Nah that was the reason for the switch.

Balrog (Boxer) was in the Original Street Fighter too.

He was based on Mike Tyson (Mike Bison = Mike Tyson)

You fought him before Adon I think.

Nad Balrog is a Spanish name which makes sense for sissy ass Vega.

Capcom just didn't wanna get sued...

I remember back when World Warriors first came out and saw the name Balrog. I was like "What kind of name is that for a nigga?!":lol:

That was also before I knew what M.Bison stood for. Al my friends and I were guessing what the "M" meant. We called him everything: Master Bison, Montague Bison, Montgomery Bison, Mister Bison, Monster Bison. We just thought it was something more mysterious than "Mike":lol:

wwoooowwwwww, the only time i seen SF1 was in a scene from "Juice". i used to google it all the time but could never find shit, just now googled it after seeing Rocky Miavias post and watched 14 minutes of it on youtube. ....didn't know Gen, Adon and Birdie had O.G. status lol
