They want what they assume are soft targets because they're scared. Not too many people are built to put in live gunfire work. We saw that in Uvalde. All that Battlefield DLC shields, armor, weapon skins, and those mother fuckers were scared to engage. These mother fuckers got 20 grand worth of weaponry, and they're going to rob a clerk for $60. Cash isn't as widely used with cards, and digital payments. I keep a 20 on me just in case I stop past the pho place that only takes cash, other than that, everything is getting NFC'd or chipped.

Every place ain’t the same..there’s still places that still receive lots of cash and have cash on deck.. also I saw mad liquor in that store which means they could’ve got cash and products they can sell.. several thousands of bottles of liquor easily on display (patron, etc)
