Must See: Armed Veteran Jewelry Store Owner Forces Thief to Leap Through Shattered Window in Omaha

Now, in the grand scheme of things, this isn't a laughing matter, but I can't help but laugh at the way the robber immediately threw his hands up and skedaddled through the same shattered glass he had created.

Garrett Peddicord, a veteran, a goldsmith, and jewelry store owner in Omaha, Nebraska, was ready to respond when he heard his window shatter around 11:30 p.m.

He glanced at the security monitors and saw a thief entering the window.

Garrett Peddicord spent about three years deployed in Afghanistan.

But let me do a little Monday morning quarterbacking here.

I don't think I would have come around the corner the way he did. Don't get me wrong, it worked for him, and I think his so-called violence of action is what caused the robber to become startled and take off, but what if the robber decided to stay and fight instead of flee?

Everyone startled response isn't to flee

I would have probably leaned out the door and made my comband with my gun pointed so that if they did decide to stay and fight, I could take some cover or concealment after firing my shots.
