Just like exiting that elevator with Trump last year - last night HE LOOKED RIDICULOUS!
Steve had A LOT of $$$$ thrown his way since last year.
His show/production company moved to LA, he's still on the radio (syndicated), the other shows and now FOX cutting him a check.
I know the difference between FOX News & FOX Entertainment, but FUCK FOX!
It was B-level celebs anyway...
I guess the problem is not GET YO MONEY - it's GOT YO MONEY but at what cost?
I heard they replaced Tom Joyner with Steve Harvey in ATL right before the election for Mayor.
WHY? It wasn't ratings...
TJMS brings commentary, political action, HBCU support with the comedy & music.
Is Steve's radio show anything like that?
Steve is like that dude who can justify anything he does because somebody gave him a check.
I can NEVER look at him any other way.
To be honest, as a society, we have expectations of celebrities that we simply do not have for normal people.
If I'm being honest, if I don't count the friends and associates I personally sought, and only count the people I grew up knowing and just met in different places I've been, I'd have to conclude most black folks don't care about black people. They care about what is going on in their lives, and that is that.
Why?
Most human beings are self-centered, and can't see past what directly affects them.
Celebrities are no different than us, no matter how much we pedestalize them.
Steve Harvey is pursuing the opportunities offered him no different than any regular human being would, and the only difference is his shit plays out in the public eye.
I always ask people, how would the public perceive you if your words and actions played out for the world to see? Could you imagine saying something a little wild, and it being talked about in the media the next day, and by millions of people after it has been reported?
I guess what I'm really saying is, no need for me to bash Steve for not caring about black people, when I believe most black people don't really give a damn about black people, either. If black people, as an overall collective, cared about black people, black people would be in a far better place. But, you have a minority of us, trying to do all the caring for the majority of us, and that is not cutting it.
Feeling someone has a greater responsibility doesn't mean that person is going to feel like they have a greater responsibility. Some people are just built differently. You can be pro-black and dirt poor and pro-black and rich. You can be a rich coon or a broke coon. You are what you are, no matter what your financial status is.
I'm to a place where, if I'm going to look past my grandmother saying some of the most ridiculous, over-the-top, anti-black shit 'cause she is my grandmother ...
...then I don't have a right to hold the fire to some damn celebrity.
