First off, I don't like Steve Harvey. I think his book lets Black women off the hook and absolves them of any responsibility when it comes to relationships. Although he has some (minor) points, he fails to realize that men don't do the choosing...ultimately, women do. Black women say that they want someone who can express their feelings to them, but when a man does, she'll kick him to the curb, saying he's "soft", "corny", or "goofy"...this is why men tend to act hard...men also act hard because, as the poster said above, women (especially Black women) are turned on by the "thug", "bad boy" personality.

Men do all kinds of things for the sake of acquiring female attention...that includes dressing to impress women, buying a dope whip to impress them, acting a certain way, entertaining them, acquiring money illegally, etc. Remember, women choose the men. Of course Black men do unhealthy things in relationships - there is PLENTY of information out there to remind you of that...I'm just saying that women do a lot of things that help to destroy aspects of Black male-female relationships as well...it's just not as well publicized (except on BGOL, of course). Women are also not held as responsible for the problems in a relationship...it's usually "the man's fault". There are times that this is true, but there are also are times when it's the woman's fault, or a combination of the two, or no one's fault at all...sometimes that's just the way it is.
