Will Joan be taken seriously, as a partner? No, not that kind of 'partner'. How will her 'moonlightin' activity influence the other Sterling, et al , female staff members?

Mmmmmmmm, a precursor to so-called "women's lib". Will Gloria Steimnam (excuse the misspelling) make an appearance, and will Sterling, et al, get the Playboy account? Will the male partners be threatened? Which male partners' spouse will learn of Joans' dalliance, and spread the word--er, gosip? Pete? You think?

After Season 4, I was looking forward to seeing how Don would tell Megan his past. I figured Megan would ask where the engagement ring came from. Who was this someone not family but very important to Don? And she would remember his panic over the security clearance form he'd signed by accident. She'd eventually ask him what that was about.

I was disappointed we got to see none of that. Before Season 5 started he'd told her about Dick Whitman. She knew about Anna Draper when Sally brought that up, so I guess she knows the ring she wears was given Anna by the real Don Draper, or does she?

I wish to see all of this still, in flashback. And I want to see how Don told her Lane had killed himself. She knew Don had just fired him.

damn. I have to record this. shameless and game of thrones come on at the same time.

Don't hold your breath. It appears that Mad Men is falling victim to the principle of deminishing returns, and ready to "jump the Shark".

It's like the scenes we've seen over the past 5-seasons never happened. I thought that Peggy quit last season, but she appears prominently in the second show.Joan did WHAT last season? Not really.A mere figment of one's imagination.

Sterling, et al has new digs that resemble a department store. Betty Draper--absent her usual dour facial expression (this season Betty will always show a HAPPY FACE) looks a little heavyweight (probably due to her real-life pregnancy), visits a 'drug-den', helps cook the drugies a meal, flaunts her cash, argues with a drugie, and leaves unscathed with a discovered violin. Implausible? A little. Plus, her character is more believable with the 'HAPPY FACE'.

This is my reward for waiting faithfully--several months-- a lousey 2-hour premier. This was a 'make-work' project for the actors!:angry::angry:

They fucked up by letting Don randomly Marrying that buck teeth chic, the series was better when he was fucking bitches at the bar

there's something off about this episode that we're not seeing just yet. Don being completely off his game, too many death references & the that drawing of the two Dons passing each other. there's something up.

Anybody peep how roger didn't cry for his moms passing but broke down when he found out the guy that did the shoe shining past? That was kinda a deep moment in the storyline. That's why I love this show.

Man I loved this show, didn't have the 'usual flair' but I must admit, the part with Roger breaking down for his 'Shoe Shine' guy had me as well as Don and the doctor's wife I didn't see that happening @ all, nothing about Sunday's episode gave me that feeling! It was the first episode so I'll give them time, as for Peggy showing her being able to come up with a great campaign and being the 'female Don' did it for me, Don being out of his 'element' and not being able to 'Reel in his clients' says a lot as well! Oh and the real Don Draper was the guy who created the Malboro Man and died if I can recall from a heart attack, time will tell though, how far they're going to push it, the old Don is back though that much is for certain!

Draper's pimp hand is bionic...

I think the non speaking for almost 10 mins in the premier was outstanding...

Didnt think I'd like so many different story lines following so many characters but its working great so far.

I like the way they showing Pete STILL trying to be like Don.

"If you even open your fly to urinate within a 50 mile radius of this house...I will destroy you."

"I just want to feel shitty until the moment I take your dress off."

:itsawrap:

After he made that unexplainable/inexplicable decision to marry his Secretary. I haven't watched the show ever since...

Her damn TEETH!!

Don is losing his touch. The young hyper guy that Peggy gave a chance is gonna be a problem. Roger broke down about the shine man because he felt he still needed him. He didn't cry for his Mother because he probably hasn't needed her since he was 12. I expect the show to pick up as the season progresses.

This show is boring as hell...

Well Don Draper is anyway

Same ol shit it's getting repetitive.

Get married, fuck around, fuck around some more, etc etc

Yeah these 2 eps have been boring imo, but it might just be a case of the show getting ready to jump the shark.

I think the opposite is true. You have a lot happening right from the start this season. For the 1st time in 4 seasons or more we see Don flash back to his childhood concerning his mom and their arrival at the whore house he grew up in. Don Roger are both having issues with Death. Peggy still trying to fit into the "Boys Club". Is he as bad as Don or worse? Plus you have to wonder how much her boss truly respects her. The same could be said for Joan. Partner in name only? then you have Betty actually acting like mother for once, even if its not her child. I see a lot going on.

takeaways from Episode 4

1) Peggy lost her only friend that we know of - Stan - sold him out for an account that neither side got - Heinz

2) Don in listening to Peggy pitch the campaign heard himself ( so he probably felt like a proud papa) and also knows that Peggy is going to be a problem because she is that good

3) Joan was being Joan in trying to set the law down amongst the secretary but was pushed back and then disrespected in the conference room by Harry Crane.

4) The attempted swing session with Megan's co-workers was funny - she was clueless while Don knew what time it was from minute one -

5) The "doobie" with Don and Stan as they worked on Project K - puff puff pass

6) Megan's Love scene that Don just happen to show up for and then hs bullshit fight so he can have an excuse to run off with Sylvia -

7) Megan's fellow actress - peeped that Don is a bit of a voyeur(remember him peeping at his step mom about to get her freak on with Uncle Mack)

8) Finally a storyline about Dawn - I have a feeling this is going to get bigger (MLK's Death is coming up soon)

Just watched last nights episode and it was brilliant!

Can I do what Don does and just tune out Megan's voice?

I really hope/think this is Jon Hamm's year to win the Emmy because I think he's been brilliant the last few weeks. I spent half the episode thinking "WTF is he doing?" but at the end I did pity him. Only someone deeply damaged can do something so twisted.

I liked that they kept the Kennedy assassination until the end. It did make sense: another tragedy coming right on the heels of MLK. People just want to close their eyes and hope it will all be over soon. They could not have dedicated a whole episode to it like they did for JFK and MLK, it would have been too much. Putting it at the end made it more powerful for me.

Poor Ted, Don kind of played him. But he has Peggy on his side and he can fly a plane, so he'll come out on top.

I do like seeing Don the brilliant visionary Ad Man again. He is able to do it because he lives in a fantasy/nightmare world. I think Ginsberg is the same way.

didnt know there was a thread here:

I hope this is the end of Silvia & Don’s relationship. I’ve heard that a lot of ppl wanted the old Don but I preferred Don from last season. He seemed to be happy in the honeymoon stage with Megan. But him getting Silvia demonstrated how broken he is as a man and how the problem isn’t Betty or Megan but him and his just a miserable human being.

Regarding the Benson character and how he helped out Joan, I thought it was a nice touch. I would like to think he did it to legimately help her without taking into account career advancement. But worse case scenario it was a situation that benefitted both parties. Joan got someone to help her during a time of need and Benson kept his job.

Peggy continues to be favorite character on show. She is the only one that knows Don but also has the balls to check him.

Enjoyed seeing the dynamic with the new firm and the contrast of styles. Chough is the anti-Don so of course Don had to take him down a peg and Peggy called him on it.

But he got his revenge

Honestly im getting sick of Peggy, she's only mad that the man she is infatuated over was easily played by Don. She came in there with a fucked up attitude and she was pissed that Don convinced him to merge, then got him to get drunk and make an ass out of himself. Don is a self saboteur as evidence of him fucking up his marriage when it felt too normal, Betty is just a bitch but Meagan really does love him but im just glad that boring affair is finally over.

Pete Campbell in his best moment of not just Season 6 but the whole series - maybe even on TV

The tap dance with his feet right before he lands on his ass and then spring righ back up is classic

Last nights episode was good.

I thought Don was on his pimp shit, he had his mistress and new partner wrapped around his finger the first half of the episode and then got his ass handed to him the rest of the episode.

Great show, so well written. It's not for everyone tho either you love it or you probably hate it. I really don't see this merger lasting much longer and i think Pete wont be back next season. A couple episodes ago i actually felt sorry for Don that was GREAT acting.....:cool::cool::cool:
