I hate to rain on everyone at ESPN's parade but the way Steph Curry's daughter behaved at last night's post game press conference was completely unacceptable for a child not suffering from any cognitive issues. I suffered with extreme ADD and Hyperactivity as a child and would've never been allowed to act out like that. I wouldn't have even tried it. We've all seen children on stage with their parents before. It's 2015, this is nothing new. I don't know if Steph Curry's wife gave that little girl a Red Bull after the game but something was wrong. I never saw it as cute or adorable until ESPN bombarded me with that message on it's latenight SportsCenter telecasts. In fact, while it was going on I felt really uncomfortable. It was like watching a car wreck.

Now this is in no way an attack on this little girl but do you notice how much leeway she got for her behavior and how every single adult called her beautiful or adorable? How every jet black athlete who would never go out of their way to compliment a black child tweeted about how gorgeous this racially ambiguous little girl was? She definitely possesses a degree of cuteness that all small children do. Still why does every light skinned person automatically get labeled adorable or beautiful. Does anybody think that if that were D-Wade, Lebron or even Draymond Green's kid up there acting a fool, the narrative would've been how beautiful they were?? They would've been like, "Somebody get this little crispy urchin off the stage." I understand why white people find light skinned people adorable and favorable. They are the portion of the black community that most resembles them. Duh. That's not even racism. That's human nature. However, it has always boggled my mind as to why blacks, especially the darker ones make it their business to always dote and fawn over light skinned children and proclaim how beautiful they are at every turn. Now I know someone is going to say that I'm butt hurt because no one called me adorable when I was a baby. Wrong!! I'm Nigerian and we typically come out very light and get darker over the months so I did not have this problem. Women wanted to steal me from my mother when I was an infant.

Recently I polled all of the brothers at my job. The question was, "Have you ever seen a black woman call a darkskinned child cute or adorable." Of the 20 or so brothers I asked, none of them had ever seen this. Ever...In their long legged lives. Ever. And they didn't answer with malice or disappointment. There was more of a "Negro is you crazy" type tone to their answers. Now this may be a regional thing. I live in D.C., a notoriously color conscious city but I'm sure most black communities are similar. Back to Steph Curry's daughter. I want to make sure that this does not become about her. She just highlighted an issue that I'm sure no one light skinned or dark skinned wants to talk about. I simply ask you all to just perk up your antennas and pay attention to who gets labeled beautiful and adorable regardless of it's validity and who never gets those labels even in cases where they are absolutely stunning. Get in the comment box and let me know what you think about Steph Curry's daughter at last night's press conference. Would you have gotten a whuppin' if you acted like that in public??

She's gonna run all over his azz when she gets older

And i've seen plenty ugly light skinned kids. I dont think she's one of them.

The kid wasn't that much of a distraction at all, why is this dude going off and rambling on it and making it a lightskinned vs darkskinned issue?

:smh:

Athletes say the same things and reporter's questions are all stupid anyway. Let the man have time with his daughter.

For,the past two or three days, these reporters been on that bullshit.First, they asked Kyrie,if Lebron is like a father figure to him, even though his father been in his life and Lebron is 7 years old than him and now they have a problem with Stephen Curry bringing his daughter to a press conference.....

And,people wonder why players like Marshawn Lynch have a major issue with the media....:smh::smh::smh::smh:

why should he or any athlete bring their little kid to a press conference??

How much of an idiot does someone have to be to write up some shit as dumb as this? :smh:

Skin color don't have shit to do with this. Another swing and a miss by the O.P. With that being said there needs to be a rule in place not allowing children to sit in on interviews. For what it's worth keep in mind Steph is still "working " during these interviews and handling "work" related business. How many of us bring our kids to work with the exception of bring your child to work day? I think that needs to be cut out in all four major sports.

I don't have a problem with the kid at the presser but if someone doesn't put a stop to it - the next generation of Curry is going to be clear...

LOLOLOLOLOL she was yawning at the press conference while steph curry answer boring questions with boring answers that needed to be ask just cause....

i can see your point (original poster) but these kids shouldnt be in the press rooms.

I don't hate kids at all as I'm a single dad to a beautiful little girl myself but who is allowed to bring their kids to their job? None of those athletes want to be answering questions from reporters after the game but it is part of their job which means they are literally still at work.

uhhh...plenty of ppl? depending on the job and on certain occasions or @ certain times? not everyone works @ the jailhouse or w/e it is the fuck you do that makes it seem like it's impossible for ppl to bring their kids to work

They lost me there.

This article is trying way too fucking hard.

What a waste of everyone's time.

Im confused,

I just seen a happy loving father,

with his love child...

it was cute if you ask me...

and I know all about lightskin privilege...

there are plenty of gremlin lookin ass

yella babies..

but his daughter is not one of them...

I can't believe this but I think the kid shouldn't be here.

Its work...and not only for the athlete.

and it is inappropriate, the room is filled with adults players curse, get asked sensitive questions, lose their tempers, can get confrontational, etc.

Also a player could be using their kid as a type of shield to avoid being asked certain questions.

And IF that kid either says something inappropriate into a live mic or falls/hurts themselves...then you will see the whole village come out with pitchforks.

They cute and all and if the player WANTS to do it fine, but don't say nothing when it backfires.
