Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell: 'I'm what Steph Curry is to basketball'

Le'Veon Bell believes his patient approach to playing running back will change the NFL similar to how Stephen Curry changed the way basketball is played in the NBA.

"I think I'm changing the game," thePittsburgh Steelers running back told Bleacher Report. "In that sense, I'm what Steph Curry is to basketball. Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily think Steph Curry is the best basketball player, but he changed the game so he's going to always go down as being remembered. Now, everyone wants to shoot the 3 and shoot it from deep."

Bell has a patient running style requiring his offensive linemen to hold their blocks before he attacks a hole, usually for big gains. He said he expects young running backs to try to copy his style.

He recently described that style to ESPN's Jerome Bettis, telling the former Steelers great that he looks off linebackers to bait them into the gap he doesn't want to hit before cutting back.

"I watch the linebacker ... but I'm not going to look at him. I don't even want him to know I see him," Bell said.

Draymond Green, Curry's teammate on the Golden State Warriors, played pickup basketball with Bell when both were athletes at Michigan State. He believes Bell's comparison to Curry has merit.

"That patience he has as a runner has never been seen before," Green told Bleacher Report. "You had Barry Sanders, who shook you out of your socks. Quick as grease. You had 'the Bus' and his power running. You have super-fast runners. But a runner with the patience he has? I mean, I don't know if we've ever seen that. He's a special runner who's definitely transcending the game and it's fun to watch.

"No one else in the NFL runs like that, but I guarantee you, there will be some runners coming out -- and there's probably some in the NFL now -- that'll try to take on that technique."

Last Sunday he set the Steelers' franchise record for rushing yards in a playoff game with 167 yards in the 30-12 victory over the Miami Dolphins, breaking a record set by Hall of Famer Franco Harris when he rushed for 158 yards in Super Bowl IX.

He should stfu but hes probably right... Kids will absolutely begin to mimic his style in organized ball and attempt to duplicate his success. Unfortunately very few will have his size, speed, power, and vision to go along with that patience.

I seen Scarbrough do it a few times during the Alabama game last night and the the first thing that came to mind was "He being patient like Bell be doing".

Edge ran a very similar style; he might be more patient than edge, but its nothing new...

RB's gonna get fucked up trying that but more will. What Bell does cannot be taught. He just has amazing instincts to do it. When he stopped on the goal line against the Dolphins and walked in untouched I was like.....:eek2: Chiefs looking at dat shit like what da fuck!!!!

Yeah. I love the way that dude runs..dude just floats...waiting patiently until something opens and if two holes open he'll almost always take the correct gap. Then you see other RBs run full speed up the backs of their OL :smh:...

Peace,

You may have been too busy sucking Tom Brady's dick to notice that the Steelers are entering the 2nd round of the playoffs - as they do perennially.

steelers 2nd round knockouts every year========crap team

his oline be opening huge holes. he run through untouched so many times

Nah he makes himself skinny thru them that's why he looks like they open up power gaps and shit.
It's why you see him in a crowd of ppl and then he's just 15 yards down the field lol
It ain't fat ass lanes it's regular holes he turns into crazy gains
If they did actually open up them cowboy line type holes the nigga would have 2k+ every season of his prime without playing a full 16

66 @ nyj
32 @ baltimore
57 @ dallas

would have loved to see him againts the broncos

Thank you! Look where our run defense ranked this year. Look where the Bills run defense ranked this year.

I like his running style, he has started hitting it a little harder the last couple games, where b4 I thought he was being too patient. And trust not everyone can emulate this style, the dudes' vision is off the charts.
