She was elected with the full knowledge that she was anti car. Traffic is mad crazy and it takes forever to get from one side of town to the other. Parking is getting harder because of bike lanes and there are no parking requirements for new residential buildings. The speed cameras and lack of on or off street parking are intended to make you think twice about driving a car in the District. By the way, population is increasing at the rate of 1,000 new citizens a month. Also, she’s about to be the first mayor since the legendary Marion Barry to be elected to a second term.

Can't punish people for driving and not have a good public system as an alternative.

Can’t stand DC with all there camera/meters and signs that say no parking from 7am to 10am, then on top of that it say no parking anytime!

She is trying to raise the prices because they bought new camera's that are smaller, harder to locate and can track multiple cars at once. The older models were easy to spot and could only tag one car at a time. Also many DC residents got fed up with them and a vigilante (hero to many) was going around knocking them over and damaging them.

Virginia had high ass speeding tickets years ago and MD wasn't enforcing them because they said the prices were insane...

Same here, in TX but I drove thru DC one night while headed back to NY and some speed light cam hit me while on some highway that had a limit of 45 I think. But never got anything in the mail and been years now.

VA has those EZ-Pass toll lanes with insane fees. I got caught in two: one was a 40 cent toll and the other was a $3.00 toll and I got fines for about $275 for each! But I fought that shit in court and had them dismissed.

High fines and tickets do not prevent people from driving fast. This is an attack on the poor, yet another attack on the poor. People get a ticket they can't afford after driving through a speed trap, what are they supposed to do when the fine is more than their rent?

They don't pay it, because they can't afford to, not because they don't want to. So now they ride dirty, and then they get caught and the court wants to suspend their license, but how are they going to get to work?

So they're ride dirty again and then get their vehicle taken from them. Now, they can't get to work, lose their job, get evicted and all because of an unreasonable ticket

that statement is 100% true. Happened to me years ago. Your name gets placed in what's known as the National Driver's Registry.
