It's not as rural as she implies. It's close enough to both Huntsville and Birmingham that you could easily make a drive to either to work, so there's a little bit of money there but pretty much yeah, if you are of color, then you shouldn't really stay in that area short of passing through. The giant electric billboard where the guy promotes Trump more than his own business should be enough to tell you to keep it moving, at least for the next 4-5 exits.
now whats crazy, they have a sports complex there for basketball and when we went up for a tournament several of the young white brawds had an ass on them and they were with mixed kids.
It's more they (the police) fuck with you when they know you aren't from there. If you black they'll assume you have drugs and will search and stuff. Otherwise it's just like any small white town in the south
