That was a quality rant but you're deflecting. The question once again is why you upset that there's a woman lead in Star Wars?

Wait.....are you one of those dudes that gets nervous when you see girls on screen? Don't be scared...women are good.

Yawn...

You got your feelings hurt and thats a you problem.

My post was pretty clear. I dont have to like every new trend Hollywood puts out. Ill tell you what, put colored women in them and Ill at least be appreciative.

You can go back to talking Star Wars with your cacs online now.

I'm pretty sure it's answered in here and I'll come across the info as I read the comments...in case it's not tho where does this for time wise in the star wars universe

"In April 2015, at Star Wars Celebration, it was revealed that the stand-alone films would be released under the umbrella of Star Wars Anthology. It was also confirmed that Rogue One takes place between Episodes III and IV, being closer to IV in the timeline. At Disney's biannual D23 Expo in August 2015, it was announced that the film's title was amended to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

ya I have a habit sometimes of reading the last post first and then reading the thread in reverse...I had to laugh when I realized pretty much the very first line in the very first post answered my question

Star Wars: Darth Vader VR film set to be written by David S. Goyer
'You are the visitor in this story that is happening in and around you'

darth-vader.jpeg

This year’s Star Wars Celebration has been surprisingly revelatory; the fourth Battlefront DLC was confirmed to be based on Rogue One, General Thrawn will return in Rebels, and attendees were given their first glimpse at Darth Vader the aforementioned spin-off.

However, one piece of new information has really got the masses talking. Writer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Blade) confirmed that he is helping create a VR movie based on the Galaxy’s biggest villain, Darth Vader.

According to The Verge, it will be an entirely original story that will fall into the Star Wars canon and is being overlooked by the same people overseeing the new films. However, it won’t be a passive experience like The Force Awakens.

"You are the visitor in this story that is happening in and around you, and to a certain extent you might even have some effect on," Goyer told the Celebration audience. "You can pick up things, you can open things. You can push things, you can walk. You can touch characters.”

The film was also described as being set in a “persistent” world ‘that cycles through day and night, and continues to go on even after the "visitor" has gone through the story for the first time.’

Goyer was unable to confirm a release date, but hinted it could be here within a “year or two”. Meanwhile, a behind-the-scenes video shown at the Celebration gave us a first look at Mads Mikkelsen’s new character. Host Warwick Davis also spoke to The Independent before the event, discussing the world of Star Wars and comparing filming Episode I to VII.

Star Wars: Rogue One Just Got Hit By Another Behind-The-Scenes Change
BY ADAM HOLMES

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has already distinguished itself from the previousStar Wars cinematic entries by being the first of the "Anthology" spinoff movies and taking on a grittier tone. However, it also drew a lot of attention earlier this year for its summer reshoots, as reports and rumors raged back and forth about just how much of the movie was being changed. That clamor has since died down, but with three months to go until Rogue One's release, another behind-the-scenes changed has been revealed, with the movie getting a new composer.

The Grand Budapest Hotel's Alexandre Desplat was originally supposed to scoreRogue One, but THR just dropped the news that Michael Giacchino has been hired to replace him. The reason for the switch was the recent reshoots, which subsequently altered the scoring schedule and resulted in Desplat no longer being available. Since Giacchino had already worked on various projects at Disney and its other divisions, the company decided to bring him aboard to take on the job. Giacchino is the first person to score a live action Star Wars movie other than John Williams, who is keeping himself busy with the new sequel trilogy.

While Rogue One marks Michael Giacchino's first time scoring a Star Wars movie, it isn't his first time working on something connected to the franchise. He previously wrote the music for the Star Tours -- The Adventures Continue attraction at the various Disney theme parks. Fun fact, Giacchino also cameoed as a stormtrooper inStar Wars: The Force Awakens, which was directed by his friend J.J. Abrams. Outside of a galaxy far, far away, his music can be heard in blockbusters like The Incredibles, the Star Trek reboot series, Ratatouille, Up, Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol, Jurassic World, and Zootopia. His other upcoming theatrical contributions include Doctor Strange (his first Marvel movie), War for the Planet of the Apes andThe Incredibles 2.

Taking place shortly before the events of A New Hope, Rogue One will follow Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and her Rebel allies as they attempt to secure the plans for the Death Star while avoiding Imperial director Orson Krennic's (played by Ben Mendelsohn) forces. The movie's reshoots lasted for five weeks this past summer, and were managed by Michael Clayton director Tony Gilroy (who also contributed rewrites). While early rumors claimed up to 40% of Rogue One would be reshot, Disney later stated that the changes primarily had to do with "clarity and character development." Gilroy is also reportedly working on the final cut of the movie with director Gareth Edwards, so the two of them will presumably be listening to Michael Giacchino's music together and deciding which tunes go in, one of the last post-production tasks that needs to be completed.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released in theaters on December 16.

Three Months From Release, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Gets a New Composer

No matter what, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be the first Star Wars film not scored by John Williams. It just won’t be scored by who we thought. The Hollywood Reporter says Michael Giacchino just replaced Alexandre Desplat as the film’s composer.

The reason behind the change? Those damned reshoots. Apparently, because the reshoots pushed the schedule back so much, Desplat was no longer available to score the film. They asked Giacchino to step in, and he has.

For Star Wars fans, a Giacchino/Star Wars collaboration is something we long expected. The instant J.J. Abrams was brought on to direct The Force Awakens, we speculated that he’d replace Williams with his long-time collaborator. Obviously, that didn’t happen, but now we’ll hear a GiacchinoStar Wars score only one year later, on the second film released under the new Disney umbrella.

To me, what’s most curious about this move is that it’s so close to release, Desplat had to have done some music for the film already. I wonder if Giacchino will be incorporating any of that, or just wiping the slate clean.

Giacchino won an Oscar for his music to Pixar’s Up but he’s also written some of the most memorable themes in recent memory. Inside Out, The Incredibles, Star Trek, Lost: all Giacchino.

Rogue One opens December 16.

‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ May Include Stormtroopers With Jetpacks
Posted on Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 by Peter Sciretta

SHARES
“Rogue Friday?”) we are finally seeing a lot more designs for the first Star Wars standalone movie. One of the designs to be released as a toy is a Stormtrooper with a jetpack which has got some Star Wars fans wondering if we’ll be seeing Stormtroopers in flight (i.e. Jump troopers) in the new film.

Here is a look at the action figure in question:

Reddit user Toa_Quarax explains when and where the soldier could be seen in the movie:

At first, I thought it might be a figure based on the jump trooper from Star Wars Battlefront, but the figure’s just called a stormtrooper, the figure looks like a Rogue One-style stormtrooper, and the jetpack’s a different design, actually bearing more resemblance to the “custom jetpacks” used by Sky Troopers in Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. However, it’s worth noting that the E-11 the figure comes with does not seem to be the Rogue One E-11, as it lacks the Element M300A LED Mini Scout Light (EX 191) flashlight. … Also, a few websites (example) have mentioned that one of the phrases it says is “Head for the canyon,” which kinda gives us a idea of where they might appear in the film. Side note: I’m wondering if there’ll be a scene heavily featuring flashlights, since they’ve added them to a lot to blasters; the E-11, death trooper blaster, and shoretrooper blaster (maybe even the death trooper specialist blaster) all have the Element M300A, Baze Malbus’ blaster and Edrio Two Tubes’ blaster both have the Night Evolution X300U (I just identified this one myself), and the death trooper specialist blaster seems to have two flashlights.

StarWarsNewsNet theorizes that the Stormtroopers with Jetpacks could appear in an evening fight in the desert: the late-night assault on an Imperial outpost on Jedha. We’ve already witnessed an aerial component to that battle with the X-Wings in the last trailer, as well as a ground battle (with Baze Malbus sniping Stormtroopers).

Now, of course, a lot of big movies release toys for characters and vehicles that aren’t in the movie. For example, the Marvel films are notorious for releasing a bunch of Iron Man suits that don’t appear in the films themselves — they are designs created just for the action figure lines. We have yet to see any image or video of a Jetpack-equipped Stormtrooper in any of the pre-release Rogue One marketing thus far, but that doesn’t mean they won’t appear in the film.

There have been Stormtroopers with jetpacks in previous Star Wars canon and legend. The Reddit user mentions that Jetpack-equipped Stormtroopers have shown up in The Force Unleashed, the Battlefront games, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, and the ongoing Poe Dameron comic.

Jump troopers, also known as Imperial jump troopers were specialized stormtroopers skilled in the use of jetpacks and bubble shields they could activate for short time. Using similar tactics as their clone predecessors, they bound over walls to attack enemy turrets directly. They were equipped with RT-97C heavy blasters and a shield generator.

So this is not something new to the Star Wars mythos, but if a Jetpack-equipped Stormtrooper makes it on screen in Rogue One, it will be the first time we’ve seen one on the big screen.

Don't Rule Out a Luke Skywalker Cameo in 'Rogue One’
luke-lightsabergif.gif

Both the timing and the various settings of Rogue One make the possibility of a brief cameo from Luke Skywalker closer to reality than you might think.

Jyn Erso’s Death-Star-Plan-stealing errand is actually taking place in the same neighborhood of the galaxy where Luke Skywalker is bouncing around. It’s entirely possible, for example, that Erso will find herself recruiting on Tatooine before her mission kicks off. Luke’s home is right around the corner from a top-notch hive of scum and villainy, which could be a great place to pick up somene’er do wells with a death wish. So, with the possibility of Tatooine being briefly glimpsed, we’ve got one way for Luke to stroll by.

It’s even more probable, given the prominent connection between Rogue One andA New Hope, that the survivors from Rogue One’s suicide mission might bump into Luke in a different setting: the Rebel Base on Yavin IV. Assuming there’s some kind of epilogue in the movie, maybe Jyn will see Luke as the Millennium Falcon is touching down in the jungle, or even give him a nod as he’s running to the cockpit of his X-Wing before blowing up the Death Star.

This young-Luke cameo could be convincing, too. Thanks to Robert Downey Jr.’s recent youthful appearance in Captain America: Civil War, we know the tech that would allow for Mark Hamill to play his younger self is totally workable. Plus, we recently saw Mark Hamill shave his beard off on Twitter. Maybe the smooth face was for some de-aging motion capture?

luke-speederjpg.jpeg

And if we’re very lucky, Rogue One could give every Star Wars fan their greatest dream: glimpsing Luke in the background of Tatooine’s Tosche station haggling with a goofy alien over the price of some power converters.

Disney is already lowering box-office expectations for Star Wars: Rogue One
But that’s not stopping this blockbuster juggernaut

Lucasfilm / Disney

Star Wars: The Force Awakens may have been a box-office and cultural phenomenon of face-melting proportions, but Disney doesn’t think anybody should get too excited for a repeat when Rogue One hits theaters later this year.Variety reports that Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger discussed the new entry in the franchise at a Goldman Sachs conference on Wednesday, telling investors that "We never felt it would do the level that Force Awakens did," although he did tout that "the level of interest is as high as it was for Force Awakens."

The new film, which focuses on the group that steals the Death Star plans at the heart of the 1977 original, has had a tough go of it in the last few months. Director Gareth Edwards first articulated his gritty, Saving Private Ryan-inspired vision two years ago at the Star WarsCelebration convention, a take that excited the audience in attendance because it was such a departure from what had come before. But with the film undergoing extensive reshoots this summer — and filmmaker Tony Gilroyreportedly stepping in to lend a hand — many have taken the changes as a sign that Disney was unhappy with the dour tone, and hoped to lighten the film up a bit. (Screenwriter Gary Whitta, who wrote the first draft of Rogue One, has called the insinuations "bullshit".)

IGER'S WARNING IS JUST COMMON SENSE

In reality, Iger’s warning is just common sense. The Force Awakens was the first new Star Wars film in a decade, and featured the return of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher. It was a once-in-a-lifetime confluence of events that led to the film's massive box-office success (in the US, it's the highest grossing film in history). Rogue One, on the other hand, is an entirely different proposition, and while it will feature the return of Darth Vader it’s nevertheless the first time a Star Wars live-action movie has stepped outside the confines of the Skywalker saga. But Disney clearly sees both Rogue One and its upcoming Han Solo spin-off — each of which are being branded as "A Star Wars Story" — as key to moving forward with the franchise.

Iger reportedly told investors that a writer has been locked down for the mysterious third spin-off film, which is scheduled to debut in 2020. (At various times, that film's been rumored to be about everyone from Obi-Wan Kenobi to Yoda.) But more importantly, he stated that he’d recently met with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy about planning out the Star Wars cinematic franchise beyond the next four years. It’s a sign of confidence that, despite Rogue One still being months away, Iger is so sure of the future of the property that he’s willing to move beyond the immediate slate, despite potential fears of audience burnout. It’s a conversation he’s also having with Marvel, which pioneered the cinematic universe model that Lucasfilm is now adopting, but for audiences the concept of what a Star Wars spin-off is — and whether they’re interested in them at all — will in large part be determined by what they see whenRogue One opens on December 16th.

Rogue One Ships, Droids and Technologies

Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Valene Kane. We know we’re going to see Darth Vader, as well as a slew of new characters, but we’re also going to see new Rogue One ships like the TIE striker, the U-wing fighter and a sarcastic droid named K-2SO. Read on for a preview of the new Star Wars tech we’re going to see in Rogue One!

tie-striker-rogue-one.jpg

TIE Striker
While it resembles the short range TIE fighters from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and the subsequent sequels, the Imperial TIE striker is more streamlined, according to StarWars.com. They are designed for patrols over ground-based installations. The pointed wings are designed specifically for combat in a planet’s atmosphere. They’re faster than the TIE fighters and have extra laser barrels. Their wings can curl down for speed. The body is longer, allowing cargo to be carried along with the pilot. In the trailers, we see them defending an Imperial base on the planet Scarif.

at-act-rogue-one.jpg

AT-ACT Walker
Remember the AT-AT walkers from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back? If you were lucky, you had one of the Kenner or Hasbro toys as a kid. This time around, we’re going to see another version. The AT-ACT walker is a larger version of the AT-AT, and used for a different purpose. The AT-ATs were used more for combat, but the AT-ACTs have a larger cargo area, and can be used to transport building materials or combat supplies. Again, we first saw these in the Scarif battle from the film’s trailers. They AT-ACTs are there to help with construction, as Scarif is being used as an Imperial base camp for the Death Star’s construction. Feel free to begin the debate about whether it’s pronounced “ay-tee ay-see-tee” or “at act.”

u-wing-rogue-one.jpg

U-wing
Fans of the original films know all about the X-wing fighters that the Rebel Alliance used to take down the Death Star. The UT-60D or U-wing, however, is much larger. To get large numbers of troops onto the battlefield, the U-wing starfighter can penetrate combat zones and take damage while providing air cover. It’s got wings that can either tuck into its sides or swing out, forming a ‘U.’ Fans of the game Star Wars Battlefront have seen this ship in the DLC, during the Battle of Jakku.

krennics-imperial-shuttle-rogue-one.jpg

Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle
Lieutenant Commander Orson Krennic (Mendelsohn) is the director of Advanced Weapons Research for the Empire. As we learned in the Rogue One prequel novel Catalyst, he has been focused on the completion of the Death Star as his ticket to advancement in the Empire for years. He’s all about pride, and his huge Delta-class T-3c shuttle reflects that. The shuttle can transport a number of Death Troopers and when landed, appears much like an imposing pyramid.

imperial-combat-assault-tank-rogue-one.jpg

Imperial Combat Assault Hovertank
The Imperial Combat Assault Hovertank is an easily maneuverable ground vehicle that can drive through city streets. It’s got a large cargo capability and laser cannons to help “keep the peace.” It has room for a Tank Trooper commander on the top and lightly-armored combat drivers inside.

k-2so-rogue-one.jpg

K-2SO
K-2SO (Tudyk) is clearly the comic relief of the film, going by the most recent trailer. He’s a reprogrammed Imperial security droid, now working for the Rebel Alliance. He’s the perfect cover, as no one would notice him behind enemy lines. He entered the Alliance after meeting Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), who messed with his inner workings. He also seems to have an issue working with Jyn Erso (Jones), claiming in the trailer that he’s with her because the Captain told him he had to be. He’s part of the mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. One could argue that messing with the programming of a sentient droid, something akin to brainwashing, might put you on the dark side. Though we don’t know a lot about him quite yet, he may remind fans of HK-47, the Hunter-Killer assassin droid from the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic with his quippy lines.

c2-b5-rogue-one.jpg

C2-B5
This astromech droid might look like the beloved Rebel droid R2-D2, but C2-B5 is on the side of the Empire. He, like his fellow droids in their service, gets frequent memory wipes. Here’s hoping that the Rebel Alliance takes him in.

kyber-crystals-rogue-one.jpg

Kyber Crystals
You may be familiar with kyber crystals as the keys to the lightsaber. These crystals can be found on a number of worlds, though the planet Ilum has the most. The crystals, though clear, take on a color after bonding with a Force user, giving the lightsaber its distinctive color. In Rogue One, a large kyber crystal is used to power the Death Star. We learned in Star Wars: The Clone Warsthat major weapons had been powered by kyber crystals in the past. Emperor Palpatine has been mining kyber crystals whenever he can, and we see one of those destroyed in an episode of Star Wars Rebels. In one of the international trailers for Rogue One, we see a young Jyn being given a necklace by a woman (likely her mother) and told to “trust in the Force.” As her father is part of the Death Star creation team (though reluctantly), he would possibly have access to kyber crystals. Is the necklace a kyber crystal? Does Jyn have a strong connection to the Force? We’ll know more on December 16!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ticket sales off to strong start

000243101_0.jpg

Posted November 29 2016 — 7:00 PM EST

Advance ticket sellers say Rogue One is off to robust start, coming close to last year’s figures for The Force Awakens despite being the second Star Wars movie in a year.

In the past, films from the galaxy far, far away have been separated by three years at the minimum, but now that Lucasfilm is rolling out a new one annually, the question of oversaturation has been raised. Turns out, that’s not a problem.

MovieTickets.com says presales for the Dec. 16 release, which kicked off at midnight on Sunday evening, represent their biggest first day presales of the year. After only one day, tickets are running at 90 percent of day one presales for The Force Awakens. Given thatRogue One is following so soon after Episode VII’s release and also features an entirely new cast of lead characters (except for Darth Vader, who is said to be more of a peripheral figure), a 10 percent drop seems negligible.

In the first day of sales, over 75 percent of all tickets purchased through MovieTickets.com were for the new Star Wars film, and unlike last year, there have been no reported outages due to crashed servers. IMAX reports that the movie is currently dominating its early sales as well.

Rogue One was also Fandango’s biggest first day of presales for 2016, and it has the second highest tally in the company’s history (following, again, The Force Awakens). Fandango reps tell EW the company “sold hundreds of thousands of tickets within the first few minutes” they went on sale.

The Force Awakens had a staggering $248 million opening weekend domestically last year and ended up earning more than $2 billion globally. Predictions for Rogue One’s North American first weekend are in the $130 million range. No dollar figures for presales have been released, but predictions may go up or down depending on how purchases shake out in the weeks to come before it arrives in theaters.
