Here's a well-deserved congratulations to Star Trek: Discovery, which just netted a Season 2 over at CBS All Access.

In its first few episodes, the show has set records at the streaming service.

"In just six episodes, Star Trek: Discovery has driven subscriber growth, critical acclaim and huge global fan interest for the first premium version of this great franchise. This series has a remarkable creative team and cast who have demonstrated their ability to carry on the Star Trek legacy. We are extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished and are thrilled to be bringing fans a second season of this tremendous series," said Marc DeBevoise, president and chief operating officer at CBS Interactive.

Led by Sonequa Martin-Green, well known from her role on AMC’s mega-hit The Walking Dead, Star Trek: Discovery is set in the Prime Universe (as opposed to the Kelvin Timeline used in the J.J. Abrams-produced films) and takes place about 10 years before Captain Kirk's five-year mission. In other words, the series will act as a bridge between the first two series in the timeline, about a century after "Star Trek: Enterprise" (which was a prequel) and a decade before the original series. It features a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

Martin-Green's character's name is First Officer Michael Burnham. She's joined by British thespian Chris Obi (who has been cast in the upcoming reboot as a Klingon - specifically as "T'Kuvma," the Klingon leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses), Michelle Yeoh, Douglas Jones and Anthony Rapp as series regulars.

Star Trek: Discovery is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller's Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers.

fuck the streaming service. watch it on space channel, it might still come on ctv or download the episodes

Glad to hear. The show is decent. My wife and I have watched the first 5 episodes.

(Downloading 6 now)

I was ready to clown it those first few episodes, but it picked the hell up. I hate that it's on the streaming service, but it deserves any positive outcome it can get.

Are people really paying for CBS all access???

I really wish they would put it in the JJ Abrams timeline since that would make more sense. Discovery has a fucking holodeck. So the TNG crew were amazed by a technology that had been around for a hundred years? Lol.

They need to fucking move this shit to cable...

Thank Gawd for Kodi and the internet because I refuse to pay for a streaming service just to watch one show.

This is the Same shit that MGM is about to hit us with .... with their new Stargate Origins show.

I've got a bad feeling that this is going to end up becoming the future of SciFi shows. Which I wouldn't have a problem with if all of this shit was on One Service.

Like Dark Matter, Star Trek, Star Gate, Kill Joys, 12 Monkeys... Put all that shit on one Streaming service and I'm great.

This show IS set in the Kelvin timeline, they just not going to admit it

This might be a test. If people are willing to pay for regular TV shows...

We may eventually end up paying for things like the Superbowl, World Series, award shows even cartoons.

I hope not. Guess it is a really good test tho.

...

I do.
I support Black star films as much as I can, and even though Angela Bassett is not the lead like what could have been, this is a Black lead Star Trek character, like DS9 was.

I only pay because
1. It's Star Trek
2. It's got a Black lead role

If , example, this were a prequel to Star Gate, which I would want to see but not as much as Star Trek, and had no lead Black actor, I would
1. Wait for the end of the season, and either binge watch all episodes in the trial period, or pay for one month and watch all episodes
or
2. Download

fuck the streaming service. watch it on space channel, it might still come on ctv or download the episodes

Space is only available to canadians, in the US they have to watch it on CBS all-access or download it illegally...

The holodeck they were using didn't allow moving around too much. I also didn't see physical contact.

My guess is its just visual.

I scoured the internet and couldn't find a trace of old girl in so much as a bikini. I know some resourceful poster got the goods.

In this day and age I'm not worried about obtaining content. I just hope the writing picks up. I won't drop any spoilers but I see three obvious story lines developing and I think they're weak and lazy.
And, yeah, they're gonna have to do something about the timeline cause the ship is 10 years before James T and already the tech looks more advanced than DS9 in most cases.

godsdamn let the sister get a ship before she has to sleep with some not-a-brother.
