Spider-Man: Homecoming -(discussion thread)

Question:

Who'd be colder in the air -

The Falcon vs. The Vulture in MCU?

I think the Vulture Harness would smoke Falcon's shit.

Love the Falcon but The Vulture is something else.
Like Falcon is in the air with some hang gliders compared to the vulture with the full suit the talons and the fucking blades.

Another thing I forgot to mention:

Marvel realy "depowered" Spider-Man in this film (i read somewhere that they wanted him to sort of build as he went along) but his power level felt severly lowered.

He was VERY much the street level hero they were going for. I'd say in this film he felt a bit more "higher-grade" street level than Daredevil in strength and ability but still pretty close to a "smaller hero" than a major.

He didn't seem over powered like the other films at all.
Big paws on a puppy.

The Falcon is faster and more maneuverable, he has military combat training. Redwing is a more advanced drone. He's armed with ordinance and munitions .

The Vultures harness is slower, heavier and built primarily to steal; and he has no combat training.

Falcon wins.

Will be interesting to see what kind of tweeking Tony will do to falcons wings based on his analysis of vultures gear.

Pretty much, no real talk of spider sense , He also boasted a lot of being able to take caps shield. Stark told him If Cap wanted to handle you he'd have handled you.

in the Civil War fight it was obvious this wasn't fully SpiderMan from the books
no spider sense and even as 15y/o in the 60's books Spidey could out muscle Cap very easily

My oldest: Daddy...what's a porn?

Me: Oh it um is something like a melon pecan...wait did you still want to get that limited edition scooter?

My oldest: WHAT?!??!?! Yeah....thank you daddy thank you

Me: Shhhh...your missing the movie.

:hmm: I'll be sending all ya'll the bill.

Ahhhh shit. I saw the movie without my kids and now I'll have to deal with this bullshit this weekend. I feel your pain.

Here we go.

1st, not even close, easily the best spider man. Marvel controlling this made it everything. Cat is actually young so there's 6 movies in this series and he won't be 30. Finally some forward thinking, this generation can grow up with him like the harry potter generation grew up with him.

Glad they got the timeline together immediately. Didn't waste a moment.

Enjoyed The Vulture and how he was trying to just feed his family by running illegal guns. Everyday guy that took an opportunity can't be mad at it other than him selling those guns to crooks. Keaton played the hell out of the role. Favorite part is when he realized Pete was spiderman and gave him his options. 2nd is when he killed the 1st shocker but was really trying to just suspend him into air but was like MEH afterwards.

Aunt Mae- just got oggled the entire didn't add anything didn't take anything away. this movie ain't about her anyway so it worked.

MJ- dry as fuck. Hilarious the entire time and will be a good ally to Peter in the future. He needs that deadpan in his life.

Guy in the chair- hated him at first then realized he's just a fat dork and it's the best thing to ever happen to him. So I give him a pass and he showed up when it was actually time to. Fuck that dumb ass hat though.

Bokeem- I'm glad he getting work still. Look the same age he always has. Incredible. He did a good job and actually needed more fight scenes imo. I look forward to him in the future. He's a damn good actor and fit seamlessly.

Prowler- Just real lol. When they were showing him all the toys he was like I'm just trying to stick someone up not send them back in time. And when Spider came with the interrogation technique and he just flatly told him he wasn't good at it but still gave him the information anyway? That indifference was everything. You have extreme bad extreme good you need some extreme indifference and he provided it in the short time he was on the screen. I was cracking up when he was talking about he had ice cream in his trunk and spider said you deserve it and ran off.

Starks- dope how he fought being a father figure but ended up being just that. all of his parts were timely. He did just enough to not take over the movie. He was there to help him find his footing. Perfect job of giving us stark without having us go damn is this an iron man movie?
Best sequence 1st time he saved him and he was at the wedding in India. 2nd time he saved him he tried to call him out saying you not even here as teens do trying to lash out and he hopped out the suit in a suit like dracula coming out of the casket and cascading down the staircase

Plot in finding himself was well done. A little long in some cases but not so long you thought why is this in the movie? Enough comedic moments to keep it light but the peril was real. The main villain sequence was good because he's a kid with super powers so he couldn't actually do TOO much. Just enough.

His suit was incredible.

Captain America getting his Troy McClure on was the absolute funniest shit in the movie and after the movie. Fucking hilarious

Also special shout out to "Yea Spiderman Guy" for actually getting a credit in the movie.

So with that I'll say

Yea spiderman

Yea Ironman!

I have to agree the scene where Stark stepped out of the suit and the look on Peter's face was hilarious. I've seen that look in my kid when he got out of pocket and didn't realize I caught his ass.

Also I loved the Vulture's reasoning. Dude did everything right got a contract with the city and still got fucked over by the government. That would turn anyone bad in my opinion. Also he wasn't just looking out for himself but for his people as well. The only one he turned on was the dude that said he was going to rat him out.

Vulture was completely justified up to a point.
Just don't sell the weapons illegally find a way to do something else with it though Tinker is just simply a genius though. Unbelievable genius.
Gotta do what you gotta do j
and he never turned dude turned on them.

I don't know. Falcoln has his drone as well as offensive weapons. Also with Falcon's gear he's not gliding but has powered flight.

I didn't mean he is literally hang gliding I meant it in comparison to the fluidity of Vulture's getup.
Vulture grabs Falcon's legs with the talons everything is out of the window. hits his head with the wings that's all she wrote.
and like I said I fuck with Falcon but Villains are supposed to be like that in order for it to be that much sweeter when you beat them
I think Falcon would pull it out due to training but it wouldn't be easy
and honestly I think Vulture took it easy on spiderman he was mainly trying to just get him off of him so he could steal as opposed to REALLY killing him

Spider-Man: Homecoming post-credits scenes explained

So, needless to say, if you haven’t watched Spider-Man: Homecoming yet, you should not continue reading this post. Consider this your official spoiler warning. (And hey, if you haven’t yet seen it, might we recommend you go right now? You will not be sorry! Go on, we’ll wait!)

At the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) faces the Vulture (Michael Keaton) in an epic showdown. But Peter Parker/Spidey, being Peter/Spidey, makes sure to rescue Adrian Toomes from what surely would be a grisly fate, instead making sure he’s wrapped up and ready for the authorities. It sets off a chain of events that sends Toomes to prison and his daughter/Peter’s crush, Liz (Laura Harrier), out of town. (This, of course, opens up another door for Peter in the form of MJ, but that’s clearly another tale for Spidey’s sequel).

But, if you stayed through the credits, you learn that Peter’s good deed does not go unrewarded. Toomes is approached in jail by another prisoner and is asked, menacingly, for Spider-Man’s true identity. And Toomes covers for our boy hero, walking off with a twinkle in his eye. What are we to make of this?

“That’s what is cool — he gets a moment of redemption and he gets to protect Peter, even though Peter would never know,” says director Jon Watts. “It’s his way of saying thank you.”

It’s all in keeping with the complicated and sympathetic character of Toomes/Vulture, whose motivations are perhaps the most understandable of all Marvel villains. “It was a really interesting thing in the development of the story,” says Watts. “You couldn’t just rely on the tropes of the villain being a murderer and killing a bunch of people. He had to be redeemable in some capacity in the end and that he believes everything he said, especially about his family. So it was a really fine walk to create a villain that still has that moment of redemption in the end.”

Watts says that Keaton, who doesn’t even like to refer to Toomes as a villain, had a good time trying to make the character more complex. “Those scenes with [Toomes] and Peter in the house, where he’s driving Peter to the dance — that right there is the reason for doing the movie,” says Watts. “That, more than anything else, is what I was looking forward to, and I got to have a lot of fun shooting that stuff.”

And, perhaps most importantly? “Toomes definitely could come back,” says Watts.

That wasn’t the only scene after the movie to stick around for, though. Captain America (Chris Evans) returns to deliver another educational PSA, like the ones Peter and his classmates watched at school. This time, he talks about the value of patience, and how sometimes it pays off, and sometimes — like, say, if you sat through all those credits in hopes of getting another Marvel teaser — it just doesn’t.

What's next for Spider-Man after Homecoming

More Marvel, more heroes, more adventures

This weekend has Spider-Man: Homecoming swinging into theaters and, judging by early enthusiastic reviews, will be a smashing, web-errific success. Which, of course, means we can all start the inevitable questioning: what’s next for Spider-Man?

Here’s what we know: Holland will appear in some capacity in the next two Avengers movies — Avengers: Infinity War is already filming — and then in the next untitled Spider-Man standalone film slated for theaters in 2019. “That’s five movies we’re working on, two that have been made already and three more that go into the future and yet all anyone wants to know is what’s next,” sighs Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in mock exasperation.

Tom Holland, for one, is excited. “What’s been so nice about doing Homecoming is that we [he and director Jon Watts] went into this completely green and we’ve learned so much.” He remembers when he first met Watts, back on the set of Captain America: Civil War. “We sat in my trailer and looked at each other like, What is happening to our lives?,” Holland says. “Jon is like, ‘I’m directing the next Spider-Man, and I’ve only ever made one movie.’ And I’m like, ‘Dude. I’m playing Spider-Man, and I’m 19 years old.” He laughs. “I can’t wait to start on the second movie so we can go into it knowing what we know now.”

Such as? “Jon figured out an interesting idea for the suit,” he says. “It’s so difficult to see or breathe or drink water or be a normal human inside the mask. His idea is to take off the mask and [digitally put it back] in later. It’s something to figure out together.”

Watts, it should be said, has not yet confirmed whether he’ll return for the sequel. “For me it’s one movie at a time,” he says. “I can’t wait to see Infinity Warbecause I know what they’re doing but I don’t know the specifics. I feel like with Tom and with Spider-Man in this Marvel universe we’re just scratching the surface of what we can do.”

Holland, however, is far less cagey. “[Watts] is coming back for the next one. We can’t do another Spider-Man movie without Jon Watts.”

Based on alien weaponry Vulture had and his straight strength with the flight Harness he might give dude a run for his money.

Kevin Feige said that every other Spider man film has it. Spider sense is something they want to steer clear of for right now but they may introduce it in later films.

You are the fan boy.

Saw it three times in the theater and twice at home. I see every movie I like multiple times though. I saw Civil War 5 times in the theater. To each his/her own on their movie preferences, but from what I've seen in various threads; a lot of y'all tend to be marvel fanboys/fangirls that will hate on any and every thing DC. Not saying this is you, but from your comments it seems clear at least, that you didn't pay much attention to the film. WW was in no way, a terrible or mediocre movie.

i thought that was some real big bro shit. tony said" trust me , if cap wanted to lay you out , you'll be laid out" letting peter know that cap went light on him. i'm assuming spidey senses will develop as his powers increase over time. he hasn't had his powers for even a year yet.
